Well done year 6 – Amazing!

Everyone! Goodbye from Margaret Lally

Dear Parents & Carers This is to let you know that I will be stepping down as Chair of Governors of Robert Blair at the end of this term. Paul Convey, who is currently one of our vice-chairs and may be known to many of you as your local councillor, will be taking over the Chair.

I have had an interesting, and at times challenging, five years as Chair. During this period the school has gone through considerable change which was necessary to improve teaching and learning and ensure that every child reached their maximum potential. I know this was at times unsettling for parents and thank you for sticking with us on the journey. The school is now in a good place. The recent OFSTED inspection recognised the progress the school has made stating that teaching is “highly effective” and the school is “highly inclusive”. We have just received the SATS results which are extremely good. The curriculum is exciting and offers the children lots of external experiences. We have a very strong management team and excellent and extremely hard working group of teachers and support staff. Next year the school is hoping to be able to undertake building works which will improve the physical environment. Whenever I go into the school I am struck by how confident and aware the children are. A few weeks ago I had a really interesting meeting with members of the school council who talked to me about their ideas and their concerns about the environment, crime and racism.

I am confident that I am leaving the school in excellent hands with Paul Convey and Mich Bahn and wish you all the best for the future. Year 6 thrilled their families and the rest of the school at their leavers assembly on Tuesday afternoon. They performed their own version of Snow White ‘Snow White and the 22 Dwarfs’ is based on the classic fairy tale ‘Snow White and the Seven dwarfs’. Year 6 have adapted the story to retell their own fairy tale adventure through primary school. They also set out their ambition to create a new fairy tale as they move on to secondary school and continue to be lifelong learners. Each member of y6 created their own dwarf name based on their personality traits....
