Scholarly 2016 DEVELOPMENTS, HIGHLIGHTS Publishing AND CHALLENGES REPORT BY CAMILLE THOMAS Annual Report Profile & Overview

ThinkTech repository was implemented by the Libraries’ Digital Resources department circa 2005. In 2009, an resolution was passed in Faculty Senate, encouraging faculty to publish open access. The Library Faculty Committee hosted in-person events from 2009 to present. A dedicated position of Scholarly Communication Librarian was filled in 2015, to perform outreach, copyright consultation and strategic administration of scholarly communication programs. The Scholarly Communication Team was formed in 2015 as well.

The following profile information is from the 2017 Library Publishing Directory entry for Texas Tech University Libraries.

Mission statement: This team is responsible for investigating and assessing the TTU community for current opinions relating to copyright and scholarly communication, particularly open access, as they regard teaching and research. The team assists the Scholarly Communications Librarian to prepare materials, to develop and deliver programming, and to raise understanding of internal and external faculty and staff with issues relating to scholarly communication and copyright.
