Some of these have been successful, others modified and the remainder abandoned. I feel that' overall we have had a satisfactory year. Financially we have been successful in operating within our budget although individual budget items have had to be amended. The hays and Means Committee achieved the goal set for them enabling us to finance all our -v(elfare Projects and start 1954 with some Vielfare funds available for early projects. The two Key Clubs and the Air Cadet Squadron have reached new highs in membership and activities. Our Key Clubs have received recognition in both the District and International organizations by election of members to their Boards of Officers. The Squadron received the Lumsden Trophy as the smartest and most efficient squadron in the Ottawa area. In youth Service we not only maintained our major activities which have developed over the past few years but have initiated what promises to be one of our most outstanding projects in the Youth Service field, Kiwanis Carp Banting for Diabetic Children. The success of our initial camp on an experimental basis and the wide-spread interest aroused across Canada, coupled with an apparent need which is not met by any other organization, augurs well for its eventual development into a large project without cap- ital investment by the Club. vie are greatly indebted to the Y. M.C.A. for their whole-hearted co-operation in making available the facilities of their Shirley Bay Camp. In Agriculture and Conservation we were not successful in locat- ing a new project to replace the County Paint and Clean-Up project of 1952 although we continued support of our regular activities successfully. Public Affairs and Support of Churches had an average year marked by some unique programmes and projects . I hope these Committees will be fortunate enough to locate new projects in the forthcoming year which they can develop to an outstanding result. The Roster was completely amended and up to date at the end of the year, ready to go to press in mid-January following listing of the 1954 Committees. A new Kiwanis telephone directory should also be available at that time through the kindness of Pingle. I consider we have been most successful in continuing the good fellowship and friendliness within the Club, sparked by the 11usic, Programme, Sports and Social and Interclub Committees and the successful meetings of our ladies! K-L Club. Public Relations with the community have remained at a high level. Undoubtedly we can do much more than we have accomplished in this past year and, in thanking the members of the Board, the Committee Chairmen, the Club Secretariat and the members at large for their loyal support during 1953, I solicit even greater effort in support of President Bill and his new Board to "Accomplish Hore In 54". Ralph E. l1cBurney, President for 1953. 1 : Page 2 to MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL lVIEETTIlTG HELD IN THE LADIES! CAFE, CHATEAU LAURIER, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 195.3.
