Picnic for Poki ~ Mele Fong & Richard Tom - The Hawaiian Serenaders Roselani Place and Ola Na Mele Productions invite you to join our residents to a Picnic for Poki at 11:00 AM at the Historic Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku Town, 103 South High Street on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Our featured guest will be Mele Fong & Richard Tom - The Hawaiian Serenaders.

Richard Tom and Mele Fong perform professionally as the husband-wife duo, The Hawaiian Serenaders. They play 'ukulele and u-bass and sing a variety of Hawaiian, hapa haole, pop, and jazz favorites with a specialty in nostalgic boat days music. The Serenaders are artists with the University of Hawai'i at Manoa's Statewide Cultural Extension Program, and have represented the state of Hawai'i in concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Rich and Mele are both Hawai'i born and raised.

Roselani Place, 's premier assisted living community, will have fresh baked cookies, coffee, and water. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or mat and their lunch and most importantly, bring a friend.

Picnic for Poki is held every third Thursday on the month to continue bringing the spirit of aloha and Hawaiian music to the Maui community in honor of the late Allen "Braddah Poki" Pokipala. Braddah Poki was dedicated to sharing Hawaiian music and culture through various venues in .

National Nursing Assistant Day Nursing Assistants Day is June 15 . . . Each day, more than 4.5 million caregivers provide hands-on care to our nation’s frail, elderly, and disabled citizens.

Nursing Assistants bring wisdom, patience, humor, and a gracious attitude of caring to the daily lives of these people, and to the Residents of Roselani Place.

June is National Rose Month

President Ronald Reagan signed legislation in 1986 that made the rose the United States' National Floral Emblem. People everywhere have been passionate about roses for centuries. Roses represent beauty and love to millions. Roses are an ancient symbol of festivals and the commemoration of historic events. Our name Roselani is always of interest, especially to folks outside of Maui. It is the “Americanization” of the Hawaiian word Lokelani, which means “heavenly rose” and is Maui’s Lokelani Rose Flower of Maui official flower.

Did You Know These Facts About Roses?  More than 1.2 BILLION fresh cut roses are sold each year.  The world's oldest living rose is thought to be 1,000 years old. Prior to working at Roselani Place she had retired from Hale Makua, after working there for 27 years. Carol made the decision and chose Roselani Place as her primary job and she is very happy.
