Kristensen is an independent nuclear weapons policy analyst who has spent the last 20 years researching nuclear weapons policy and operations. He specializes in using the Freedom of Information Act to obtain declassified documents and is a consultant to the nuclear program at the Natural Resources Defense Council in Washington D.C. Kristensen is the co-author of the bi- monthly NRDC Nuclear Notebook in The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists and writes the World Nuclear Forces appendix to the SIPRI Yearbook. Am 7. April habe ich von BrigGen Krogmann diese Aufgabe übernommen. Ich möchte nicht ver- säumen - und das sicher auch in Ihrem Namen - mich hier an dieser Stelle bei ihm für sein erfolg- reiches Wirken zu bedanken und ihm weiter schnellen Genesungsfortschritt zu wünschen. Wenn Sie dieses Heft in der Hand halten, feiern wir in Kürze das 60-jährige Bestehen unserer Aus- bildungsstätte. 60 Jahre, auf die alle Pioniere stolz sein dürfen, da wir zu jeder Zeit und entsprechend aller Anforderungen erfolgreich ausgebildet haben. Dass dabei die Organisationsstruktur und die Ausbildungserfordernisse sich ständig änderten, ist eine Binse. Grundlage der aktuellen Organisationsstruktur, die wir basierend auf Entscheidungen von 2011 gerade abschließend in den Streitkräften einnehmen, war die konsequente Orientierung an den Aus- landseinsätzen und hier vor allem am Afghanistaneinsatz. Auf dieser Grundlage haben alle damals Be- teiligten für die Pioniertruppe eine einsatzgerechte Struktur erdacht, die folgerichtig die Kampfmittelab- wehr tief integriert, die ein breites Fähigkeitsspektrum vorsieht und die der Pioniertruppe im Vergleich zu anderen Truppengattungen einen angemessenen Umfang erhält. Trotzdem war es notwendig, auf Grund zugestandener personeller Obergrenzen und finanzieller Einschnitte beim Material, Fähigkeiten der Pioniertruppe abzubauen, die nunmehr wieder an Bedeutung gewinnen. Mit dem geänderten sicherheitspolitischen Verhalten Russlands sowie einer vielfältigen terroristischen Bedrohung und der entsprechenden Antwort der NATO darauf, rückt die Landes- und Bündnisver- teidigung zunehmend in den Vordergrund.
