'Badboys' of Rock Tour Coming to the 155 Great Allentown Fair

‘Badboys’ of Rock Tour coming to The 155 th Great Allentown Fair Hinder, Papa Roach, Buckcherry to perform on August 29 For release Wednesday, May 9, 2007 Allentown, Pa . The self-proclaimed ‘Badboys’ of Rock, modern rock bands Hinder, Papa Roach and Buckcherry, are coming to The 155 th Great Allentown Fair on Wednesday, August 29. These bands, touted as the successors to the monster rock bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s, are hitting the road together this summer predominantly playing state and county fairs. Their current singles are all over contemporary rock and pop charts. A fourth band to be announced will open their mini-festival type concerts. Tickets for the Allentown Fair’s “Badboys” show are $35 and go on sale starting Saturday, June 2. There will be festival-style standing room in front of the stage and reserved tiered seating under cover in the Fair’s Grandstand. Tickets purchased in advance of the show date include admission into the Fair. The show will start at 7 p.m. Hinder is still pumping out hits off of its “Extreme Behavior” album released in late 2005. They include “Get Stoned,” “Better Than Me” and Hinder’s power ballad, “Lips of an Angel,” that has since been re-recorded by Country singer Jack Ingram who performs at the Fair as part of the Brad Paisley Tour the next day after Hinder’s scheduled appearance. Papa Roach’s current album “Paramour Sessions” has spawned singles “To Be Loved,” and “Forever” getting a lot of airplay. Former hits include “Last Resort” and “Scars.” 2 Buckcherry has perhaps the most obvious “Badboy” tune, “Crazy Bitch,” off of its current album “15.” The band’s latest single on the charts “Everything” follows up one of its best known singles “Lit Up” in popularity. The Fair adds this show to its previous announcements of Brad Paisley’s Bonfire and Amplifiers Tour featuring Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram and Kellie Pickler for Thursday, August 29 and The American Idols LIVE! Tour for Saturday, September 1. More shows will be announced for the remaining dates of the Fair that runs August 28-September 3. The Reliant Lights Your Holidays event will feature a dazzling display of lights on the Center’s iconic venues and trees in Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park as well as a snow-filled play area. Southwest Airlines Holiday Concert and Fireworks Spectacular will headline with country star Jack Ingram and the largest fireworks display ever held at the Center. Geoff Munns ii Abstract This thesis explores the use of place in Van Morrison’s songwriting. The central argument is that he employs place in many of his songs at lyrical and musical levels, and that this use of place as a poetic and aural device both defines and distinguishes his work. This argument is widely supported by Van Morrison scholars and critics. The main research question is: What are the ways that Van Morrison employs the concept of place to explore the wider themes of his writing across his career from 1965 onwards? This question was reached from a critical analysis of Van Morrison’s songs and recordings. A position was taken up in the study that the songwriter’s lyrics might be closely read and appreciated as song texts, and this reading could offer important insights into the scope of his life and work as a songwriter. The analysis is best described as an analytical and interpretive approach, involving a simultaneous reading and listening to each song and examining them as speech acts.
