    Dresdner Philharmonie The Dresden Philharmonic can look back on 150 years of history as the orchestra of Saxony’s capital Dresden. When the so-called “Gewerbehaussaal” opened on 29 November 1870, the citizens of the city were given the opportunity to organise major orchestra concerts. Philharmonic concerts were held regularly starting in 1885; the orchestra adopted its present name in 1923. In its first decades, composers such as Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Dvořák and Strauss conducted the Dresdner Philharmonie with their own works. The first desks were presided over by outstanding concertmasters such as Stefan Frenkel, Simon Goldberg and the cellists Stefan Auber and Enrico Mainardi. From 1934, Carl Schuricht and Paul van Kempen led the orchestra; van Kempen in particular guided the Dresden Philharmonic to top achievements. All of Bruckner’s symphonies were first performed in their original versions, which earned the orchestra the reputation of a “Bruckner orchestra” and brought renowned guest conductors such as Hermann Abendroth, Eduard van Beinum, Fritz Busch, Eugen Jochum, Joseph Keilbert, Erich Kleiber, Hans Knappertsbusch and Franz Konwitschny to the rostrum. After 1945 and into the 1990s, Heinz Bongartz, Horst Förster, Kurt Masur (from 1994 also honorary conductor), Günther Herbig, Herbert Kegel, Jörg-Peter Weigle and Michel Plasson were the principal conductors. In recent years, conductors such as Marek Janowski, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and Michael Sanderling have shaped the orchestra. As of season 2019/2020, Marek Janowski has returned to the Dresden Philharmonic as principal conductor and artistic director. Its home is the highly modern concert hall inaugurated in April 2017 in the Kulturpalast building in the heart of the historic old town.

    MUSICWEB INTERNATIONAL Recordings Of The Year 2017 This is the fourteenth year that Musicweb International has asked its reviewing team to nominate their recordings of the year. Reviewers are not restricted to discs they had reviewed, but the choices must have been reviewed on MWI in the last 12 months (December 2016-November 2017). The 136 selections have come from 27 members of the team and 68 different labels, the choices reflecting as usual, the great diversity of music and sources. Of the selections, seven have received two nominations: Iván Fischer’s Mahler 3 on Channel Classics Late works by Elliott Carter on Ondine Tommie Haglund’s Cello concerto on BIS Beatrice Rana’s Goldberg Variations on Warner Unreleased recordings by Wanda Luzzato on Rhine Classics Krystian Zimerman’s late Schubert sonatas on Deutsche Grammophon Vaughan Williams London Symphony on Hyperion Two labels – Deutsche Grammophon and Hyperion – gained the most nominations, nine apiece, considerably more than any other label. MUSICWEB INTERNATIONAL RECORDING OF THE YEAR In this twelve month period, we published more than 2700 reviews. There is no easy or entirely satisfactory way of choosing one above all others as our Recording of the Year. In some years, there have been significant anniversaries of composers or performers to help guide the selection, but not so in 2017. Präsentiert in Verbindung mit dem vorbereitenden Gründungsvorstand der Scharwenka Stiftung Frühlings-Konzert Prof. Günter Kootz In Görlitz geboren, studierte von 1946 bis 1951 an zugunsten der Rettung und Umwidmung der Hochschule für Musik in Leipzig Klavier bei Prof. des Scharwenka Komponierhauses in Bad Saarow Rudolf Fischer. 1948 erhielt er beim Franz-Liszt- Wettbewerb in Weimar den 1. Preis. Nach Aspirantur Samstag 02.05. 2009 18.00 Uhr und Dozentur wurde er 1954 zum Professor an der Leipziger Hochschule berufen. Er gab zahlreiche im Berliner Saal des Hotel Esplanade Resort & Spa, Bad Saarow, Seestraße 49 Solo- und Orchesterkonzerte im In- und Ausland und spielte mit namhaften Dirigenten, wie Hermann Abendroth, Franz Konwitschny, Vaclav Neumann, Programm Herbert Blomstedt und Kurt Masur. Darüber Hinaus gibt es eine große Anzahl von Rundfunk- und Mitglieder des Gewandhausorchesters Leipzig Schallplattenaufnahmen mit Prof. Kootz, u.a. Günter Kootz / Klavier / sämtliche Klaviertrios von Ludwig van Beethoven. Olaf Hallmann / Viola / Susanne Hallmann / Violine / spielen: Olaf Hallmann Xaver Scharwenka 1959 in Leipzig geboren, erhielt zunächst Impromtu für Klavier op. 17 Violinunterricht an der Leipziger Musikschule. Mit Prof. Günter Kootz Beginn seines Studiums an der Hochschule für Musik „ Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ wechselte er zur Ludwig van Beethoven Viola, sein Lehrer war sein Vater, Prof. Dietmar Fantasie op. 77 Hallmann. Olaf Hallmann studierte Kammermusik in Prof. Günter Kootz der Meisterklasse bei Prof. Gerhard Bosse. Nach Philipp Scharwenka Abschluss des Studiums 1981 erhielt er ein Sonate für Viola und Klavier op. 106 b Engagement im Gewandhausorchester Leipzig und Olaf Hallmann, Prof. Günter Kootz wurde 1990 Solobratscher.
