Everybody was Tfresh and felt rested after a good night sleep following the long journey from the United States that was punctuated by the rewarding experience at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Breakfast was prompt and quick as everybody got ready to celebrate mass in English at the Chapel of Sts. Most everybody went on to take a bath and to drink the water that welled from the spring at the foot of the hill that St. Bernadette first dug into during the apparitions of the Blessed Mother. The ladies took longer to fall in line and part of the Basilica of the Dr. Ludy Bengson & Ms. Esperanza Immaculate Concepción Vasallo at the Station of the Cross group could not finish before 12 noon when the Gothic spires that jut into the sky.

Aer His resurrecon from the dead, Christ appeared to his disciples for forty days and then ascended into heaven where he is "seated at the right hand of the Father." Years ago on a retreat, a Benedicne monk encouraged me to "try and imagine the joy Jesus felt when he ascended to the Father." I found that insight helpful both during the retreat and every year when we celebrate this feast. Spend some me today prayerfully imagining the joy Jesus experienced when he ascended to His Father in heavenly glory. Then ask Jesus for the gi of that same joy in your heart and in the hearts of people you love. ST. SANCTUAIRE PRESS RELEASE N°2 11TH FEBRUARY IN LOURDES ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST APPARITION FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES - XXVIII WORLD DAY OF THE SICK - In 1992, Pope St. John Paul II instituted the World Day of the Sick, celebrated on 11th February, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. A day celebrated by the whole universal Church. Caring for and supporting the suffering is an evangelical priority for the Sanctuary. This day is designed to educate everyone about preserving the gift of health. In 2020, for the XXVIII World Day of the Sick, in his message Pope Francis champions “generous gestures”. The Holy Father reaches out to the sick, poor, excluded, to all those who “bend under the burden”, as well as to companions and health personnel. He wants to give them a message of comfort and hope in order to continue their work, following the path mapped out by the Lord Jesus, with the intercession of Mary. “You received without payment; give without payment. ” (Matt. 10,8) In Lourdes, the service of the hospitaliers, freely given to the sick, is the symbol of this phrase from the Gospel of Matthew. Each year: 45,000 sick or disabled people are welcomed in Lourdes and supported by these volunteers who give of their time for their sick and suffering brothers and sisters. Hospitalities, like the Hospitality of Our Lady of Lourdes, are essential to the Sanctuary because they allow the most vulnerable to be guided to the feet of the Virgin Mary. PROGRAMME FOR THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES: 15,000 PILGRIMS EXPECTED 10:00 a.m.: International Mass, presided by Mgr.

Now is a religious grotto. Location Lourdes, France Date 11 February 1858 Witness Saint Bernadette Soubirous Type Marian apparition Holy See approval 1862, during the pontificate of Pope Pius IX Shrine Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, Lourdes, France Our Lady of Lourdes is a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary invoked by Roman Catholics in honor of the Marian apparitions said to have occurred on numerous occasions in 1858 in the vicinity of Lourdes, France. The first of these is the apparition of 11 February 1858, when Bernadette Soubirous, a 14-year-old peasant girl, admitted to her mother that a "lady" spoke to her in the cave of Massabielle (a mile from the town) while she was gathering firewood with her sister and a friend.[1] Similar appearances of the "lady" were reported on seventeen further occasions that year. Bernadette Soubirous was later canonized as a Saint, and Roman Catholics and some Protestants believe her apparitions have been validated by the overwhelming popularity and testament of healings claimed to have taken place at the Lourdes water spring. In 1862, Pope Pius IX authorized Bishop Bertrand-Sévère Laurence to permit the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lourdes. This Marian title, Our Lady of Lourdes, has been widely copied and reproduced, often displayed in shrines or homes, most notably in garden landscapes.

Easter Sunday Celebration of Christ’s Resurrection Sunday, April 4, 2021 Crossnore Presbyterian Church Announcements and Prayer Requests (attached PDF) Call to Worship: Think of a moment when someone that you least expected to see suddenly stands before you. A moment when something you’d lost is found again and you can scarcely believe your eyes. Think of a moment when your fear was suddenly proved unfounded and you were surprised by joy. This morning is such a moment. We resign ourselves to the worst, and suddenly life turns around. So come this Easter morning, to be shaken from your conviction that nothing can change your situation. Come if you look at the world and feel overwhelmed by its chaos, or disillusioned by its promises. On this morning we remember how Mary went to anoint a corpse, and was greeted by a Savior. Come to worship prepared to see your life and the world through new eyes. For Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed. Hallelujah! *Hymn of Praise # 232 Jesus Christ is Risen Today Text: Lyra Davidica, 1708; stanza 4, Charles Wesley,1740; Music: Lyra Davidica, 1708 Sing along with the Choir of King's College, Cambridge (verses 1-3): https://youtu.be/rMwPEmUMP7U Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! But the pains which he endured, Alleluia! our triumphant holy day, Alleluia! our salvation have procured. Alleluia! who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! Now above the sky he's King, Alleluia! suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia! where the angels ever sing. Alleluia! Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! Sing we to our God above, Alleluia! unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia! praise eternal as God's love.
