PEEL FAMILY Boaden’s and Organic Kids Catering has been a proud partner of the Salvation Army and the SHELTER Peel Family Shelters for many years. 1767 Dundas St. Mississauga, Ontario The reason I say partners and not supplier is that’s exactly what they are. What began as L4X 1L5 business relationship quickly turned into much more. Boaden’s and the Salvation Army have (905) 272-7061 partnered together to provide meals on a daily basis to our various Homeless Shelters in the Peel Region. CAWTHRA RD. SHELTER Boaden’s and Organic Kids Catering provides excellent, quality and most of all delicious meals. 2500 Cawthra Road These are not your typical homeless shelter meals you may think. Boaden’s and Organic Kids Mississauga, Ont. Catering goes beyond this is in the attention detail it puts into each and every meal for our L5A 2X3 residences. They provide us with b, lunch and dinner meals 7 days a week, 365 days a year. (905) 281-1272 Yes they even arrange meals on all holidays. Brampton I have heard quite often how delicious their meals are but from experience (my taste buds) I can attest to this. When our staff and myself enjoy the meals just as much as the clientele that WILKINSON should tell you something. Their meals are meals are you would eat at home. One item they ROAD SHELTER especially excel at is the meals for children. With their Organic Kids Catering division they are 15 Wilkinson Road able to insure that our children in the various shelters have the same meals as children in Brampton, Ont. school and are able to blend in. L6T 4X1 (905) 452-1335 I would like to mention that Boaden’s is a proud partner of ours in various other endeavors as well. Their charitable contribution to our organization is second to none for one simple reason; they do not like the recognition or to be acknowledged for what they do they. For example, did you know that last year Boaden’s arranged/and or donated over $200,000 in donations for homeless people throughout the GTA. Included in this was a donation for 5000 pair of winter boots for children and adults along with a machine and all the goods that can make 5000 teddy bears. This year was extra special, Boadens’ and Organic Kids Catering donated $50,000 towards our initiative of starting a service dealing with children and mental disabilities. They, as they often do, have stepped up and helped when asked. It is also often that we hold charitable events at their facility or that they provide us with meals at cost for our various charity events as well. If we need support I know that all I have to do is pick up the phone and they are there. One other thing I want to make you aware of is Louie the General Manager. 5 years ago when I started with the Salvation Army he was one of the first people to greet me upon my arrival. He was the first person I asked for help with when I wanted someone to help me with our community council. Without hesitation he agreed to lead this organization for business leaders in the community that help us with our organization and strategic vision. But you won’t hear him acknowledge or boast about this. This is just the type of people that Boaden’s are. If you would like an organization that prides themselves on integrity, honesty, compassion and most of all provides great service than go to Boaden’s, you will not be disappointed. After all it is more than just a business relationship with Boaden’s and Organic Kids Catering.     IHQ women’s bible studies IHQ women’s bible studies introduction DEAR SISTERS IN CHRIST, It is with glorious, inexpressible joy that I present to you our first in a series of five international women’s Bible studies that I believe will be inspiring, impactful and relevant for disciples of Jesus in this century. As women who are engaged in many roles, we need God’s Word to speak clearly into our hearts and minds, so that we not only experience his presence, but those around us will see Jesus’ love living in and through us. God is calling us to be people of influence and action wherever we find ourselves in our everyday, ordinary life. The call is clear – we must be holy people in an unholy world. In General Brian Peddle’s Call to Mission to the international Salvation Army, he urges Salvationists to ‘Be Ready’, which includes a specific call to holiness. He writes, ‘We must reflect Christlikeness in all aspects of life, recognising that holiness restores our humanity and relationships with God, others and the world.’ It is in response to this challenge that this Bible study series, Time to be Holy, was developed. It is a resource tool to be used for women and girls of all ages, as they discover and further cement the truth that it is possible to be holy in this chaotic and complicated world. Time to be Holy is a collection of 24 Bible studies developed by 24 women from different parts of our Salvation Army world. These women are passionate about holiness and their writings will inspire and challenge us to be women with clean hands and pure hearts.

    WBC Journal Issue 2 February 2020 What kind of leaders does The Salvation Army need to lead its mission in the United Kingdom in the twenty-first century? By Michael Hutchings Abstract This exploration of leadership begins with an analysis of a Pauline perspective on Christian leadership, beginning with the Pastoral Epistles, under the themes of Knowing, Being and Doing. Developing Salvation Army perspectives on leadership are explored and various practical and ecclesiological tensions are identified. An integrated response to the research question begins by summarising of the contemporary mission landscape and acknowledging that The Salvation Army has experienced a period of decline. A number of themes are explored in relation to the required attitudes and activities of contemporary Salvationist leaders. Conclusions demonstrate the need to faithfully re-imagine leadership while acknowledging tensions surrounding the leadership task and remaining true to scripture and the essence of the Army. Introduction In 2013, Commissioner André Cox delivered the keynote address to the Called and Commissioned International Conference on the Training of Cadets. Cox (2014:16) argued that ‘effective leadership is essential if The Salvation Army is to continue fulfilling its unique mission effectively’. He also asked, ‘What kind of leaders do we need to be producing?’ (2014:15). This question, which conflates issues of identity, mission and leadership, is explored in this paper. The research explores this question in terms of officership at corps level and the aim is to identify characteristic attitudes and activities of officers as leaders of twenty- first-century mission; and to acknowledge points of tension which, left unaddressed, could present barriers to effective spiritual leadership in the Army.
