  • Unbekannte Bekannte
Was erwartet den Hörer? Höhepunkt ist der an Phoenix erinnernde Song You/ me/evolution. Neuer Versuch: Fred Nicolaus anybody?

Music Guide Music HisTORY There was a time when “elevator music” was all you heard in a store, hotel, or other business. Yawn. 1 1971: a group of music fanatics based out of seattle - known as Aei Music - pioneered the use of music in its original form, and from the original artists, inside of businesses. A new era was born where people could enjoy hearing the artists and songs they know and love in the places they shopped, ate, stayed, played, and worked. 1 1985: DMX Music began designing digital music channels to fit any music lover’s mood and delivered this via satellite to businesses and through cable TV systems. 1 2001: Aei and DMX Music merge to form what becomes DMX, inc. This new company is unrivaled in its music knowledge and design, licensing abilities, and service and delivery capability. 1 2005: DMX moves its home to Austin, TX, the “Live Music capital of the World.” 1 Today, our u.s. and international services reach over 100,000 businesses, 23 million+ residences, and over 200 million people every day. 1 DMX strives to inspire, motivate, intrigue, entertain and create an unforgettable experience for every person that interacts with you. The History of Rock Music: The 2000s History of Rock Music | 1955-66 | 1967-69 | 1970-75 | 1976-89 | The early 1990s | The late 1990s | The 2000s | Alpha index Musicians of 1955-66 | 1967-69 | 1970-76 | 1977-89 | 1990s in the US | 1990s outside the US | 2000s Back to the main Music page (Copyright © 2006 Piero Scaruffi) Trippers (These are excerpts from my book "A History of Rock and Dance Music") Droning psychedelia TM, ®, Copyright © 2008 Piero Scaruffi All rights reserved. Rock music owed a lot to psychedelia. The search for a psychedelic sound had been the first and foremost motivation to cultivate progressive structures and creative arrangements. Without that motivation, rock music might have been stuck in Chuck Berry's riffs forever. Psychedelia was in a sense the "big bang" of rock music, from which the expansion began. However, after four decades it was difficult to see what that original impulse still had to offer that had not been heard already a thousand times. The sound of droning guitars was not particularly exciting anymore, shoegazing ecstasy was becoming the equivalent of the new-age music of the 1980s, and psychedelic folksingers were beginning to sound senile. Boston's Paradise Camp 23, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Erik Amlee, indulged in the 47-minute shapeless space-noise jam that takes up most of Bar-BQ Dungeon (2001) and then unleashed the 46-minute drone-based jam of Solitaire (2002), bathed in cosmic electronic noise. Seattle's duo Growing turned psychedelic trance into an austere and pure science with its subliminal ambient dronescapes for guitars and electronics: Epochal Reminiscence, off The Soul Of The Rainbow And The Harmony Of Light (2004), that diluted a folkish melody into a cycle of ear-piercing tones; the pulsating galactic tsunami Wide Open, off His Return (2005); the dense hyper-dilated slowly-shifting Blue Angels, off Color Wheel (2006).

We need that in order to not get fed up with our own music. It’s as well good to look at our music from a different angle. You’ve used a lot of sounds, from percussion to really subtle sounds.
