(Freewest) hold the mineral rights to 5 staked mining claims comprising 76 claim units (nominally 1216 ha) in the McFaulds Lake area in the James Bay Lowlands of north central Ontario. The company first became active in the general area as a direct result of a copper discovery made in 2002 by De Beers during a diamond exploration program Since the beginning of Freewest's exploration efforts in the area the author, as an independent contractor I consultant to Billiken Management Services Inc. (Billiken) who have the management contract with Freewest for exploration on the property. has been involved as an on site field supervisor for the Freewest exploration programs. PROPERTY DESCRIPTION AND LOCATION The McFaulds Lake property is located in the James Bay Lowlands of north central Ontario some 580 km NW from the city of Timmins and 530 km NNE form the city of Thunder Bay (Figures 1 & 2). Geographical coordinates for the northeast comer of the claims are 52° 45.4' north latitude by 86° 10.0' west longitude. The property lies within NTS areas 43 DI16 (Figure 3), and is located some 12 km WSW of the De Beers' discovery now being explored by Spider Resources Inc. (Spider) and KWG Resources Inc. (KWG). A total offIve (5), staked, unpatented, unsurveyed contiguous claims (76 claim units, 2 approximately 1216 hectares or 12.16 km ) comprise the McFaulds Lake property. These are listed in Table I, and are all located in Base Map Area (BMA) 527861 (Claim Map G- 4306), Porcupine Mining Division (Figure 4). All claims are registered 100% in the name of Free west Resources Canada Inc. ACCESS & PHYSIOGRAPHY At present the property is accessible only by air using float equipped aircraft during the ice free months and ski equipped aircraft in winter. The closest bases with these type of aircraft are at Nakina -295 km. to the south, Pickle Lake -325 kIn to the WSW and Hearst -360 km to the SE (Figure 2). Winter roads connect the First Nation communities ofWebequie, Neskantaga (Landsdown House) and Ebametong (Fort Hope) to Pickle Lake and Marten Falls to Nakina. A forestry access road that may be used year round extends from Nakina to within approximately 60 kID of Ebametong. Webequie, located approximately 85 km WNW from McFaulds Lake. is the nearest community. The topography in the area is flat (Figure 5). Across the property the elevation ranges from 165 to 170 m above sea level. String bogs interspersed with numerous small ponds and muskeg 2 swamp dominate the landscape. Drainage is to the northeast via tributaries to the Muketei River. Vegetation is typical for a fringe area to a boreal forest. Tree cover is generally sparse and stunted, with the larger trees found in the better drained areas close to rivers, creeks~ lakes and ponds. Dominant species include black spruce and tamarack with much lesser quantities of balsam, birch, jackpine and poplar. EXPLORATION mSTORY General Prior to the exploration efforts of Spider and KWG, the area about McFaulds Lake had been subjected to very little if any work by companies and only cursory work by government agencies. Records of past exploration that are in the assessment mes of the Timmins Resident Geologist's office were reviewed, and the only reports on file for the general vicinity of McFaulds Lake were produced by Spider I KWG or DeBeers. Company Reports 1995 -1996 Spider Resources Inc. I KWG Resources Inc. : (Spider I KWG) The exploration efforts by Spider / KWG in the Spider #3 area, which includes the McFaulds Lake area, entailed a high resolution fixed winged magnetometer survey over the Spider #3 area, helimag surveys over 48 targets selected from the airborne survey, ground magnetic surveys over selected airborne magnetic anomalies, a stream sediment sampling program, limited bedrock mapping, an air photo interpretation and the drilling of2 core holes. Some data was sold to OGS as part of Operation Treasure Hunt. Other work was never filed for assessment credits. 2001 -2002 DeBeers Canada Exploration Inc. : (DeBeers) In the McFaulds Lake area, DeBeers conducted an exploration program (as part of a larger program in the Spider #3 area) over a magnetic anomaly, designated SP3-OO29 (the McFaulds magnetic anomaly), that consisted of: • A combined helicopter borne magnetic and electro-magnetic survey: - The survey was flown on north - south lines spaced 50 m apart at a nominal altitude of 20 m, and covered an area 1.6 x 1.6 km centred on the McFaulds magnetic anomaly. Apparent resistivity results calculated from the electromagnetic data showed a strong correlation with the McFaulds magnetic high. A satellite apparent resistivity anomaly was detected approximately 1 km to the north. • A ground magnetic survey: • This work was completed on lines oriented north - south and spaced at 50 m intervals. The McFaulds magnetic anomaly was defined in detail. • One vertical reverse circulation drill hole: - Hole SP3.Q2-007R was drilled to test the McFaulds magnetic anomaly. An abbreviated log for this hole follows. 3 0.0 5.0 Overburden: no recovery 5.0 11.0 Overburden: gravel 11. 0 19.0 Limestone 19.0 22.7 Grainstone 22.7 24.0 Mudstone 24.0 25.0 Regolith 2S.0 31.S Diorite: strongly chloritized; chalcopyrite mineralization in veinlets, as disseminations and massive. 31.5 32.0 Schist: chloritized; mineralized with chalcopyrite The mineralized intercept from 2S.0 to 31.5 m averaged 1.75% Cu. Government Reports A synopsis of government maps and reports pertinent to the area in general and the property in particular are listed below. 1887 Geological Survey 0/ Camula : (GSC) Robert Bell mapped the geology along the Attawapiskat River from the James Bay coast inland past the McFaulds Lake area. Results of this work were published in Geological Survey of Canada. Annual Report. 1886, volume II, part G, pp. 1 - 39 and titled "Report of an exploration of portions of the Attawapiskat and Albany Rivers, Lonely Lake to James Bay". 1953 Ontario Department 0/Mines : (ODM) In 1946 the ODM mapped at a reconnaissance scale a 60,000 kmz area of the James Bay Lowlands between SO° and 53° north latitude and 800 and 860 30' west longitude. Results were published in 1953 as Ontario Department of Mines, volume 61, part 6, 1952 accompanied by coloured map 1952-3 at a scale of 1:506,880 (1 "=8 miles). The outcrops mapped by Bell were compiled onto this map. McFaulds Lake is in the NW comer of the mapped area, and is shown to be underlain by dolomite, limestone and sandstone of the Lower Silurian
