Hugh was quoted as saying, “It is good to get my mind off of sales and masonry work to focus on doing something worthwhile and different to help my neighbors here on Long Island that have fallen on hard times. My goal is to help the LI Fight for Charity meet its goal of raising $200,000 this year.” “My family will be cheering me on at ringside at the charity event. I have been getting in shape by continuing to attend Bikram yoga, biking, running and playing tennis as well as going to the gym for boxing sessions. I will be ready to show my opponent my speed and agility and what I have learned in training. I am polishing up my best moves,” Tanchuck said. Veterans Remembered in Sea Cliff

By Carol Griffin

A large contingent of veterans who are members of the James F. Brengel American Legion Post in Sea Cliff and members of the community came out to Clifton Park on Veterans Day, No- vember 11, to remember the veterans who have served to protect our country. There was a short service that included a prayer, some words from Mayor Bruce Kennedy and the Star Spangled Banner sung by Ray Pierce. Post Commander Phil Como Invited everyone present to come back to Sea Cliff firehouse where lunch was served.

The Glen Cove Pack 6 Cub Scouts celebrated Fall with their annual cook- out/campout this past weekend at the YMCA. Many of the boys were excited to be camping out in the cold weather, since last year the event was canceled because of Hurricane Sandy. The day started out with many of the dedicated parents helping to cook 6 large turkeys over an open fire. As the parents coor- dinated the cooking and food prep, the boys were in the woods setting up their tents. Most of the boys were able to set up their own tents with minimal help from an adult, while a few boys man- aged to set up tents on their own! This experience is necessary for them to earn their outdoorsman badge. After a fantas- tic turkey dinner, the boys sat around the campfire to roast marshmallows, perform funny skits and tell ghost stories. They slept comfortably in their tents after that, even though the temperature dipped down into the low 40's overnight. The cookout/campout was a great success and would not be possible if it wasn't for the moms and dads who tirelessly work to make these scouting events a suc- cess.
