On Sept.10,1860, a total of 389 patents were issued in fee simple for a total of 122,240.69 acres.

Those 96 Half Breeds Entitled but Not Allotted -- “A Schedule was prepared showing the name, sex, age, and tribe of certain mixed blood Indians to whom ‘no lands’ had been allotted, and who were believed to be entitled under the treaty of 1830 to participate in the division of money arising from sale of this tract of land [disputed western survey line]. On the Schedule are ninty-six [96] names arranged alphabetically. Payment was about $200. per share.” [instead of land]. “The Otoes and their ages in years are as follows: Loiza Canigan, 32; Elizabeth Douville, 16; Julia Douville, 38; Mary Didier, 26; Logan Fawfaw, 16; Susan LaFlesh, 3 months; Margarett Lazie, 20; Margarette Robedeaux, 3; Pelagie Robedeaux, 6; Rosalie Scoville, 28.” “The Schedule is in NA, OIA, Land Div.” Above excerpt from; “The Otoes and Missourias,” 1965, by Berlin Basil Chapman, p.80. This shows only 10 of 96 names, Chapman did not list the Ioways.

There is also an earlier list than the one here transcribed, or the list of 96 not allotted and it is; “Great Nemaha, 1850-54, NA, OIA, placed in the beginning of the file,” per B.B.Chapman.

The earliest list is probably Rev. Isaac McCoy’s List of December 22, 1841, stating names, residences and condition of 121, that included 50 Iowas, 47 Omahas, 21 Otoes and 3 Sioux. This is the most interesting list because it also names their parent or parents and their current locations. In “The Otoes and Missourias,” B.B. Chapman lists the names and information for the Otoes on p.59, but he does not list the names and information for the 100 remaining. Mr. Chapman’s ref. for this list of 121 is: Letter “McCoy to Sec.
