Canadian Beatles Albums Identification Guide Updated: 22 De 16 Type 1 Rainbow Label Capitol Capitol Records of Canada contracted Beatlemania long before their larger and better-known counterpart to the south. Canadian Capitol's superior decision-making brought Beatles records to Canada in early 1963. After experimenting with the release of a few singles, Capitol was eager to release the Beatles' second British album in Canada. Sources differ as to the release date of the LP, but surely by December 2, 1963, Canada's version of With the Beatles became the first North American Beatles album. Capitol-USA and Capitol-Canada were negotiating the consolidation of their releases, but the US release of The Beatles' Second Album had a title and contained songs that were inappropriate for Canadian release. After a third unique Canadian album, album and single releases were unified. From Something New on, releases in the two countries were nearly identical, although Capitol-Canada continued to issue albums in mono only. At the time when Beatlemania With the Beatles came out, most Canadian pop albums were released in the "6000 Series." The label style in 1963 was a rainbow label, similar to the label used in the United States but with print around the rim of the label that read, "Mfd. in Canada by Capitol Records of Canada, Ltd. Registered User. Copyrighted." Innovators: Songwriters David Galenson NBER Working Paper No. 15511 November 2009 JEL No. N00 ABSTRACT Irving Berlin and Cole Porter were two of the great experimental songwriters of the Golden Era. They aimed to create songs that were clear and universal. Their ability to do this improved throughout much of their careers, as their skill in using language to create simple and poignant images improved with experience, and their greatest achievements came in their 40s and 50s. During the 1960s, Bob Dylan and the team of John Lennon and Paul McCartney created a conceptual revolution in popular music. Their goal was to express their own ideas and emotions in novel ways. Their creativity declined with age, as increasing experience produced habits of thought that destroyed their ability to formulate radical new departures from existing practices, so their most innovative contributions appeared early in their careers. -

This is an undisputed fact no matter the location. They were so popular that in America, they had to stop touring due to the screaming fans which caused the band not to be able to hear themselves. Never before was there a group that was so incredibly popular in history. This popularity and other fac- tors led the members of the Beatles to change as individuals and as a group as they matured musically and mentally. Their identity shifted from a group identity to a self-identity. Beatles UK LP's, Identification Guide
British LP Releases Identification Guide Last Updated 01 Mr 14 When the Beatles released their first LP through Parlophone, the label styles were in transition. The original record label was the "black label with gold print" that has become legendary. LP's originally released on this label style Catalog Number Please, Please Me, mono PMC 1202 Please, Please Me, stereo PCS 3042 NOTE: The gold label Please, Please Me may be found with any of three label variations. The first credits the Beatles original tunes to Dick James Music. The second credits those songs to Northern Songs. Finally, the two variants can be found mismatched, with side one having different credits than side two. The cover accompanying a gold label copy have the front cover credit shifted all the way to the right (to the cover's edge); later covers have the front cover credit moved slightly to the left. Copies of Please Please Me on the more common second label style were also available while the album was charting. These are listed below. The typical Parlophone label from the 60's has a black label with "PARLOPHONE" in yellow. This basic label style lasted on all Parlophone issues until 1969, when it was replaced by a black label with silver print. However, there were three different variations of the 60's Parlophone label, which make it possible to give a more accurate date to your Parlophone album. NOTE: The black and yellow Parlophone label appeared briefly on reissues during the early 1980's. This reissue label has EMI mentioned in the printing on the rim of the label and has the word MONO on the label. -
