A settembre in Italia per tre concerti "A Kind Revolution", prodotto e arrangiato da Jan 'Stan' Kybert e da Paul stesso, contiene 10 classici moderni di Paul Weller. Anche Steve Cradock e Steve Pilgrim suonano in diversi brani. Il brano di apertura "Woo Sé Mama" vede le leggende del soul PP Arnold & Madeleine Bell offrire la loro caratteristica voce, mentre il solo ed unico Boy George canta nella funky "One Tear". Paul è riuscito anche a stanare dal meritato riposo il mitico Robert Wyatt per farlo cantare e suonare la tromba in "She Moves With The Fayre". E infine, ancora una volta, troviamo il chitarrista degli Strypes Josh McClorey con il suo magico tocco in ben 3 brani. Paul Weller ist zweifellos einer der profiliertesten und pophistorisch bedeutendsten Figuren der britischen Musikszene. Der 1958 in Surrey als John William Weller geborene Sänger, Komponist und Gitarrist hat bereits mehrere in sich geschlossene Kreativ-Phasen durchlaufen. Von 1976 bis 1982 war er der Kopf von The Jam, der Band rund um die britische Mod-Kultur, die eine neue Eleganz in die Rockmusik brachte. Hier wurde die Attitüde des Punk vermählt mit der dunklen Schönheit des New Wave – The Jam gelten damit als Wegbereiter für Genres, die sich bis heute weiter ausformulieren. Anschließend gründete er mit dem Jazz-Pianisten Mick Talbot die Band The Style Council, die zwischen 1983 und 1989 die wohl edelste aller Pop-Darstellungen umsetzte und ihre extrem eleganten Songs stets mit einer Prise Jazz würzten. Ihr finales Album mit dem programmatischen Titel „Confessions of a Pop Group“ gilt zugleich als Höhepunkt und Fanal für die besondere Pop-Ästhetik der 80er-Jahre. Seit den beginnenden 90er-Jahren arbeitet Paul Weller solo – und hat sich auch in dieser Zeit immer wieder neu erfunden. Mal widmete er sich dem klassischen Folk, dann wieder nahm er eine raue Rockplatte auf oder widmete sich auf Albumlänge ausgefeilten Coverversionen seiner persönlichen Lieblingssongs. Mit jedem Album – exakt ein Dutzend Soloalben entstanden seit 1992 – fächerte sich sein Stil wie auch seine Fanbasis weiter auf. Unverkennbar blieb dabei jedoch jederzeit diese besondere Stimme, die selbst der Zufallshörer unmittelbar als ein selten markantes und eindringliches Organ identifizieren kann.

Records August 1, 2018 (Los Angeles, Ca) – Paul Weller released a new single entitled “Movin On” from his eagerly awaited forthcoming album True Meanings, set for global release on September 14th. True Meanings is Weller’s fourteenth solo album and twenty-sixth studio album during his incredible career and the first new music since 2017’s internationally acclaimed album A Kind Revolution. The lush, string-laden “Movin On” is out now and showcases Weller’s vocals at their very best. The track came about as the result of a “scratchy demo” on his phone that was sent to producer Tom Doyle of the White Label project, who co-wrote the track with Weller along with fellow White Label cohort Anth Brown (who also contributes bass to the track).
