The Round 5 Rising Star nominee is Alistair Clarke from Sydney University.

Alistair is in his first year from the Students after playing for the Finley Football Club in the Mulwala Murray Football League in 2014.

Clarke played 8 games for the Murray Bushrangers in the TAC Cup last year being named in the best once.

Clarke started in the back pocket last week and was influential on the contest provding good run from the backline to be named in the Students best in their win against Western Suburbs.

Clarke will be looking to continue on from this good performance to cement his spot in the Premier Division side and push for NEAFL slection later in the year.

Previous Nominees:- Round 1—Tom Harvey (North Shore) Round 2—Eli Prescott (St George) Round 3—Campbell Luscombe (Pennant Hills) Round 4—Ben Hawtin (Sydney University)

ROUND 4 WOMENS RISING STAR The Round 4 Womens Rising Star nominee is Narmeen Mohammed of Auburn Giants.

Narmeen has had an outstanding start to her football career with excellent performances in both games played to start the 2015 season.

At 19 years of age, she has sporting experience in the various rugby codes, playing union at a high level. Keen to attempt a new challenge, she made the move to football in the pre-season and hasn't looked back.

Narmeen has a fearless attack on the ball and is unbeatable in the air, out marking much taller opponents. Her tackles look effortless, yet crushing and she dominates clearances with her ability to read the play.

Narmeen's defensive pressure, which has seen her make over 20 tackles in both and force many turnovers, ensures Auburn maintain possession of the football. Her transitional play is second to none, with most of her rebounds from the backline leading to inside 50s.

Narmeen has also come to understand the value of 1%ers in football, with prolific shepherding that facilitated numerous passages of play for our offence. She's is genuinely a team player with prodi- gious football abilities. Narmeen's excellence has also been recognised by her teammates, being voted the players’ player for round one and we suspect she will consistently feature in best on ground votes. Sydney University v Western Suburbs Sydney Uni were also celebrating their Ladies Day at No 1 Oval on Saturday afternoon, and the Student women would have cause to keep the champagne flowing as the locals maintained their position in the top five with a convincing 82- point win over Wests. The first quarter wasn’t one that reached any great heights. Some appalling inaccuracy in front of goals was reflected on the scoreboard; while the stats from both sides were far from impressive. The Students would score the only goal of the quarter to lead by nine points at quarter time, but knew they would have to lift in the second term. And lift they did, as they emerged into the second quarter looking far more focussed and wasted little time in getting their game plan working effectively. There’s plenty of goals on offer to a team that goes direct on the short No 1 ground, and the Students helped themselves to six of them in the second term while holding the Magpies to one. The scoreboard was as lopsided as the general play, as the Sydney Uni side exerted their presence around the ground. By half time the margin was 36 points; but the Students weren’t finished yet. The Magpies were having a shocker of a day, and the home side was determined to take full advantage and give their percentage a boost. And so the Sydney Uni run would continue in the third term, five goals to two, and a 56-point lead at the last change. The result was beyond doubt, but the Students kept going in the last quarter with five goals to one to extend the final margin to 82 points. Yarren Jaffer-Williams was on a roll up forward to finish with four goals; and along with Glenn Smith and Rising Star nominee Ben Hawtin was among Sydney Uni’s best. The Students sit in fourth place with three wins from four games; but are yet to take on any of this year’s top three. Taran Etto, Joshua Robinson and Thomas Charles toiled hard on a tough day for Wests; but if was a disappointing day for the Magpies, who remain on the bottom of the ladder, the only side yet to record a win this season.

Western Suburbs 56 Manly Warringah 68 wins over UNSW at Village Green, while at Trumper Park the 3rds and 5ths both went down to strong UTS sides. Reserves and U19 Div 1 kept their unbeaten records intact. Despite the favourable result in

Pennant Hills 52 Uni of NSW 64 Premier Division, Coach YD was not impressed by the method, noting that the match was “marred by poor skills on both sides and there were no career defining moments for any of the players”. The U19 Div 1 match, although St George 44 Sydney University 56 played in almost perfect conditions for footy, was also a “scrappy” affair with UNSW gaining an early 2 goal lead before the Demons wound them in, scoring 10 goals and restricting the Bulldogs to another 4 for the remainder of the game. Isaac Pearson kicked 4 majors. Arguably, the best result for the day was a last gasp 4 point win-from- East Sydney 32 Holroyd Bankstown 44 behind by the U19 2s over Penrith at MKO. This week the Club is back at home for a 5 match blockbuster against Sydney University. Div 5 has a bye and the Balmain 22 Wollongong 36 U19 2s take on a win-less Campbelltown.
