JOHN FISHER *^ 2 p.m. with the Cardinals leading the series 11-7. Fisher has won the last four meetings 19 Alfred * 1 p.m. including last year’s 43-13 victory at Growney Stadium. Hartwick Quick Facts SCOUTING FISHER: The Cardinals come into today’s game with a record of 4-0 and are ranked #20 in the latest D3football.com poll and #17 in the AFCA poll. On the play, Seney not only sacked the quarterback and forced a fumble which would lead to the score, but also threw a crucial block which allowed teammate Jason Brown to score. On the season, Seney has 22 tackles, six tackles for losses, five sacks, and three forced fumbles. He leads the Empire 8 in both sacks and forced fumbles. FOOTBALL RECEIVES VOTES IN TWO POLLS: The Hawks are receiving votes in the latest D3Football.com and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll. Hartwick is one of 20 teams receiving votes in the D3Football. com poll and one of 25 teams receiving votes in the AFCA poll. ‘Wick joins fellow Empire 8 rival Salisbury in teams receiving votes in the D3Football.com poll. The Seagulls (2-2, 1-0 E8) shutout Utica 34-0 on Saturday. HARTWICK IN NATIONAL RANKINGS: The Hawks continue to rank high nationally in several categories. Of- fensively, Hartwick is ranked sixth in the country in passing yards per completion (17.3). In scoring offense, ’Wick is 33rd with an average of 37.5 points. Its team passing efficiency of 155.71 is 26th. Garcia ranks fourth in touchdown passes (14), 17th in points responsible for (86 points), 11th in points responsble for per game (21.5), and 27th in passing efficiency (157.1). Molina is 19th in scoring with just over 10 points per game and second in receiving touchdowns with seven. The ’Wick defense is ranked 23rd in Division III. It ranks 15th in third down conversion percentage (24.6%), 4th in fumble recoveries (8), and 23rd in tackles for loss (35). Seney is third in forced fumbles while Bryan Schweitzer is 24th. Seney is 15th in sacks (5). On special teams, Hartwick is 25th in net punting. Jared Morrow is 13th in average punt- ing yards (41.5). Travis Samuels is one of 30 players who has returned a kick for a touchdown. EMPIRE 8 RANKINGS: The Hawks and the Cardinals enter today’s game with the two highest scoring offenses in the conference. The Hawks are first with an average of 37.5 points per game while the Cardinals are just a hair behind at 35.3 points per game. Fisher is averaging 294 passing yards which is best in the E8 while the Hawks are third with 251.3. The Cardinals’ Tyler Fenti is the conference’s top passer in terms of yardage with 1,141 yards and Hartwick’s Garcia has 1,005 (third). On the ground, the Cardinals have rushed for 187 yards (third) and the Hawks have gained 162 yards (fourth). Ahart leads the conference in rushing as he is averaging 110 yards a game and Fisher’s Miller is right behind him with 104 yards per game. Defensively, ’Wick is only giving up 17.3 points (3rd) while Fisher is surrendering 20.3. The Hawks are first in sacks (18) and the Cardinals are sixth (9). Opponents are averaging 164 passing yards against ’Wick which is second best while Fisher’s opponents are averaging nearly 268 yards which is last. The Cardinals are giving up just under 100 yards rushing (second) to Hartwick’s 100.3 (fourth). 4-0 STARTS: Hartwick’s 4-0 start this season marks the fifth time that it has happened in its history and the first since 2009. Four of those years have ended in winning seasons (1947, 1997, 1998, and 2001) with one season ending at .500 (2009).
