Bob Rankl Ursinus College ’99

Bob Rankl is in his 15th season as an assistant coach of the Saxons football team. He is in his 12th year as a full-time assistant, having spent the 1999 and 2000 seasons as a graduate assistant. Rankl will coach the offensive line and coordinate the Saxons’ running game. During Rankl’s tenure, AU has had one of the most potent ground games in Upstate NewYork. Five different Saxons have rushed for more than 1,000 yards under Rankl’s tutelage, and AU has had a 1,000-yard runner in seven of the last 10 years. Rankl came to AU in 1999 after a collegiate playing career at Ursinus College, where he was a four-year starting defensive lineman. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Ursinus and received his master’s degree in education from AU in 2001. He lives in Hornell with his wife, Torri, and their son, Tyler. Richard Puccio SUNY Cortland ’94

Richard Puccio is in his 10th season as assistant coach at AU, where he is in charge of coaching and coordinating the Saxons’ passing game. Puccio came to AU from Rush-Henrietta High School near Rochester, where he coached for 10 years, including four as head coach. He also served one season at Cortland as an assistant junior varsity coach. Under Puccio’s guidance, former quarterback Tom Secky set new AU school records for career passing yards, completions and TD passes. Puccio is a 1994 graduate of Cortland, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education. He was a four-year standout quarterback at Cortland, where he played for current AU head coach Dave Murray, earning all ECAC honors three times (1989-91) and ECAC Upstate Player of the Year honors in 1991. A 2005 inductee into the New York State Section V Hall of Fame, Puccio holds a master’s degree in liberal studies, which he earned in 1999 from SUNY Brockport. He and his wife, Debbie, have two children: daughter Allison and son Joseph.

Austin Dwyer, Jr., Tailback 5-8, 180, Hornell, NY 11

2012: Had 275 rushing yards and two and caught seven passes for 40 yards before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 7...Returned six kickoffs for 111 yards. 2011: Played in 11 games and led the team in rushing with 980 yards a team-high 191 carries, with nine rushing touchdowns. His 67-yard run against Hartwick was the longest run from scrimmage by an AU player in 2011… Caught 15 passes for 87 yards and returned 21 kick-offs for 478 yards and a (85 yards, vs. Utica)…Was named a First Team Empire 8 all-star as a tailback and a Second Team pick as a return man. 2010: Played in 13 games. Tyler DeRosa, Sr., Tailback 5-8, 195, Miller Place, NY 3 2012: Ran 29 times for 199 yards and caught two passes for 25 yards before his season ended with an injuury suffered in the third game. 2011: In his fi rst year at AU after transferring from Western Connecticut State, played in 11 games as a backup tailback and rushed for 618 yards on 112 carries...Had a long run of 38 yards and scored one rushing touchdown, while catching six passes for 88 yards (long of 43 yards) and one TD. Returned eight kickoffs for 187 yards and two punts for 10 yards. Before AU: Played the 2009 and 2010 seasons at Western Connecticut. Won the NJAC Rookie of the Year as a freshman and was an honorable mention conference all-star in 2010. Named HM All-League in his sophomore year.
