Moving Forward •The Saxons are opening 2018 with a three-game homestand, hosting Thiel, Ithaca and Cortland. Overall, the Saxons are 60-56 against those opponents, holding winning records againt Thiel and Cortland.

In 2017, AU defeated Ithaca 20-17 in their season opener on the road while falling to Cortland 20-17 in overtime on the road. The Saxons and Cortland finished tied in second place in the Empire 8 in 2017 (5-2 in the Empire 8). The Cortland game is on homecoming on September 22.

The Saxon Offense •Following the first week of play the Saxons ranked third in the Empire 8 in total offense (476 yards), trailing only Brockport (583) and Cortland (511). AU took home the crown for the most rushing yards during week one with 247 yards (5.5 yards per carry) on the ground and four TD’s.

AU’s passing was above average compared to the 2017 season where the Saxons threw for 162.4 yards per game. Ben Burk and Casey Boston combined for 229 yards passing and two touchdowns. Senior Jayden Gavidia led the Saxons with 61 yards receiving on only two receptions. First Year Robert Smith Jr. caught six passes for 52 yards and score.
