Group name: The International Cat Association. The TICA hotel policy will be in effect. No more than (4) cats per room; please confine cats when guest is not present. Please limit cat food and litter to the bathroom area. Hotel block expires 15 September 2004. The hotel is 5 miles from the airport (has a complimentary airport shuttle), and is 5 miles from the OnCenter (show site). Hotel rooms all include hair dryers, coffee maker, and iron/ironing board. Airport: The closest airport is Syracuse Hancock International (SYR), approximately 10 minutes from the showhall. Registration: Pedigreed cats and household pets may be shown in TICA with a pending registration number. Points may be claimed after the registration number is assigned, but only for the first show where the cat didn't have a registration number in the catalog. Subsequent shows without a registration number will not be scored. All Korats (kittens, cats, alters), Provisional New Breed, Advanced New Breed and New Traits entries must be TICA registered to be shown. Supplies: Litter will be provided but please bring your own litter pans. Food: People food is available at the show site. Congress Bengal and Ragdoll Congresses will take place on Friday evening, 2 rings of Ragdoll congresses Info: (kitten and cat) and 3 rings of Bengal congresses (kitten, cat and alter) will take place concurrently. Congress fees will be $5 per entry per congress (total of $15 per bengal entry & $10 per ragdoll entry). There will be an additional congress registration fee of $10 for any cat entered in the congresses but NOT entered in the entire 2-day show. This will cover putting the cat in the catalog, and provide a single cage for the entire weekend, so the entry may remain on display for the whole show. Show Times: Check-in is 2:30pm to 4:00pm Friday, 7:00am to 8:00am Saturday, 7:30am to 8:30am Sunday. Early Check-In Friday will continue throughout the congresses, and refreshments will be available. Judging will start at 4:00pm Friday, 9:00am Saturday, 9:00am Sunday. Friday night will be closed to the general public and open to the press. Posted Hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Saturday, and 10:00am to 4:00pm Sunday. Exhibitors may not leave the show hall before the end of the posted hours without the express permission of the show committee. Cages: Cages are 22"x22"x22" for a single cage and 22"x44"x22" for a double. The top, sides and back MUST be covered. Benching: All exhibitors will have assigned benching. Benching requests MUST be clearly indicated on the summary sheets, and we will try to accommodate all requests. No benching assignments may be changed without permission of show management. Health: This is a non-vetted show. However, all entries should be inoculated against Feline Enteritis, Rhino and Calici plus test negative for Felv. All claws, front and back, must be clipped. Cats showing any evidence of fleas, mites, fungus or disease will be removed from the show hall. In the case of disqualification by a veterinarian, the TICA rules state that all other entries owned or agented by the responsible exhibitor shall also forfeit their place and be removed from the show as well. HHP adults must be neutered. It is a law in New York that all cats must be vaccinated for rabies. Please bring your rabies certificates! Clerks/ See the summary sheet. Clerks and stewards will be paid at the conclusion of the show day. Stewards: Assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Please do not deduct clerking fees from the show entry fee or other show fees. Clerking fee is $35/day, Stewarding fee is $15/day. All clerking assignments are at the discretion of the show management. Show Rules: This cat show is sanctioned by The International Cat Association and is subject to their Show Rules and Breed Standards (available from the TICA Executive Office, P.O. Box 2684, Harlingen, TX 78551, or posted on the TICA website http://www.tica.org ). By entering, all exhibitors agree to abide by the decisions of the Show Committee and Judges. There are several concerns on the possible negative effects on PPG including anaesthesia, surgery and complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety of PPG. Microsoft excel was used for statistical analysis. The information about 6646 purebred kittens who had gone through PPG before 27 weeks of age was obtained from the online retrospective survey.   • Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (Pkdef) in Cats
    Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency About the disease Pyruvate kinase deficiency is an inherited disease of Abyssinian and Somali cats. Pyruvate kinase is a red blood cell enzyme important in red blood cell energy metabolism. Therefore, if this enzyme is lacking, a haemolytic anaemia can result. However, the anaemia may only be mild and intermittently detectable, or may not become evident until the cat is older. A rapid severe life-threatening anaemia can also develop. The disease is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait, so only cats with two copies of the defective gene are affected. Carrier cats are clinically healthy but can pass the defective gene to their offspring. About the test The Molecular Diagnostic Unit offers a genetic test to diagnose autosomal-recessive pyruvate kinase deficiency (PKDef) in cats. This genetic test is a PCR-based pyrosequencing assay that can reliably distinguish between Affected, Carrier and Normal cats. It is highly recommended that all Abyssinian and Somali cats used for breeding are tested for the defective gene, as well as cats of these breeds showing signs of haemolytic anaemia. For Somali cats, testing for PKDef is now compulsory if cats are to be registered on the GCCF (Governing Council of the Cat Fancy) active register and used for breeding. Please note: The test detects the Normal and Mutant PKDef genes found in domestic cats. The test also works in Bengal and Savannah cats, and detects the Asian Leopard Cat or Serval gene if present (i.e. in F1/F2 cats). There is no point in testing Asian Leopard Cats and Servals for PKDef since the mutant gene came from the domestic cat population.

Non-domestic felines will be specifically designated when appropriate. 31.2 The word "breed" shall be defined as a sub-population of cats which differ from other cats with respect to certain genetically determined characteristics which all members of the defined sub-population share in common. REQUIREMENTS AND NECESSARY STEPS IN BREEDING In the following, the requirements, what you need and should consider for breeding, as well as the necessary steps that you must take, are explained. Before you can start breeding and call yourself a breeder, you must be an unterminated ordinary member of the KKÖ and have paid your membership fee. What breeding means and who is a breeder is in Art. 2-a. and 2-b. explained. The first step is to apply for a cattery name. The rule for cattery names is in Art. 2-c. explained. You must be the owner of a female cat who follows the rules in Art. 3. What owner of a female breeding cat means is in Art. 2-b. explained. For breeding you need a stud male. The male cat, the own or a third party one, must also correspond to certain regulations which are explained Art. 4. If you want to buy a female or male cat, please follow the rules in Art. 7-c.5. up to 7- c.7. For the mating of a female and a male cat please follow the rules in Art 5.
