He served as an offensive assistant with the Stampeders for three seasons, including the 1991 team that advanced to the Grey Cup title game. Despite his tremendous success as a coach and a mentor, Tedford still follows a basic philoso- phy, “We try to focus on one game at a time and try to reach our full potential” and still values each and every member of his football team, “whether it be the guys who are suited up, the guys who are going to play 50-60 plays or the guys who aren’t going to play at all, I want them all to understand that they are very, very important to the success of the program. COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Under Delgado, Brandon Mebane earned All-Pac-10 first-team honors twice and recorded a career-best 52 tackles as a senior. • Three linemen – Tully Banta-Cain, Ryan Riddle and Brandon Mebane – have earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors under Delgado’s guidance at Cal. • Riddle set a school record with 14.5 sacks during the 2004 season, breaking the mark of 13.5 held by Andre Carter. • Cal's D-line allowed just 82.5 rushing yards per game in 2004 to rank second in the country. • In his first season at Cal, Delgado’s line helped produce a Pac-10-best 44 sacks. COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Cal has produced a 1,000-yard rusher each of the past five years, including Marshan Lynch, who was drafted No. 12 overall in 2007, and J.J. COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Thompson joined the Golden Bear coaching staff in January after six years with the San Jose State program. • Coached the defensive tackles at San Jose State in 2006, helping the Spartans advance to the New Mexico Bowl, where they defeated host New Mexico. It was the program’s first bowl victory since 1990 as well as its first nine-win season since 1990. • The Spartans ranked third in the Western Athletic Conference in both scoring defense and total defense in 2006. • After joining the San Jose State staff in 2001 as its linebackers coach, Thompson added recruiting coordinator duties from 2002 to 2004. • Prior to his stay in San Jose, Thompson spent seven years at Texas Southern University, including the last five (1996-2000) as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.
