In accordance with Appendix H to the ISC the light signals have the same meaning as flag signals. 5) Track light panel displaying pit entry status 5.1 The light panel indicated on the pit lane map will display a flashing yellow arrow if cars are required to use the pit lane once the Safety Car has been deployed during the race. 5.2 The light panel indicated on the pit lane map will display a flashing red cross if the pit lane is closed at any point during the race. 6) Drivers leaving their pit stop position in the pit lane 6.1 For safety reasons, no car should be driven from its pit stop position at any time unless: a) It has first been driven into the pit stop position having just entered the pit lane from the track, and; b) It is then driven immediately back onto the track from the pit stop position. 1/6 7) Observing yellow flags during free practice and qualifying 7.1 Double waved: Any driver passing through a double waved yellow marshalling sector must reduce speed significantly and be prepared to change direction or stop. In order for the stewards to be satisfied that any such driver has complied with these requirements it must be clear that he has not attempted to set a meaningful lap time, for practical purposes this means the driver should abandon the lap (this does not necessarily mean he has to pit as the track could well be clear the following lap). 7.2 Single waved: Drivers should reduce their speed and be prepared to change direction. It must be clear that a driver has reduced speed and, in order for this to be clear, a driver would be expected to have braked earlier and/or discernibly reduced speed in the relevant marshalling sector. Drivers should not overtake any car in a single waved yellow marshalling sector unless it is clear that a car is slowing with a completely obvious problem, e.g. obvious accident damage or a deflated tyre. 8) In laps during qualifying and reconnaissance laps 8.1 In order to ensure that cars are not driven unnecessarily slowly on in laps during and after the end of qualifying or during reconnaissance laps when the pit exit is opened for the race, drivers must stay below the maximum time set by the FIA between the Safety Car lines shown on the pit lane map. You will be informed of the maximum time after the first day of practice. 9) Parc Fermé Cameras 9.1 To assist with the revised FIA Event procedures, the Parc Fermé cameras must be uncovered and operational at all times during the Event. 10) Operational personnel curfew 10.1 Boards warning anyone attempting to enter the paddock that the curfew is in operation will be placed immediately before the turnstiles at the appropriate times. 10.2 At this Event, Personnel will be permitted to enter the Paddock 30 minutes prior to the curfew to assist social distancing. No work is permitted to be undertaken until the curfew has ended. 11) Tyre Blanket Usage during Pit Stops in the Race 11.1 For reasons of safety, tyre blankets are not permitted in the Pit Lane at any time during the race. 12) Lapping during the race 12.1 The ISC requires drivers who are caught by another car about to lap him to allow the faster driver past at the first available opportunity. The F1 Marshalling System has been developed in order to ensure that the point at which a driver is shown blue flags is consistent, rather than trusting the ability of marshals to identify situations that require blue flags. As it was at the end of last season the system will be set to give a pre-warning when the faster car is within 3.0s of the car about to be lapped, this should be used by the team of the slower car to warn their driver he is soon going to be lapped and that allowing the faster car through should be considered a priority. When the faster car is within 1.2s of the car about to be lapped blue flags will be shown to the slower car (in addition to blue light panels, blue cockpit lights and a message on the timing monitors) and the driver must allow the following driver to overtake at the first available opportunity. It should be noted that the aim of using F1MS is ensure consistent application of the rules, additional instructions may also be given by race control when necessary. 2/6 Event Specific Instructions 13) Formula 1 Sporting Regulations Article 21.6 13.1 In accordance with the provisions of Article 21.6a) i), this Event is a Closed Event. 14) Changes to the circuit 14.1 This is a new event. 15) Specific Technical Procedures for Closed Events 15.1 The provisions of Technical Directive Ref: TD/039-20 C and the “Pirelli HSE procedures” must be complied with at all times during the Event. 15.2 Any tyres that are removed from a car and could be re-used during a session should be presented for scanning before being rewrapped and reheated. If time constraints do not permit this then all tyres used during a session must be presented to the tyre checker at the front of the garage the end of any session. This applies to dry, wet and intermediate tyres. 15.3 Both TD/039-20 C and the “Pirelli HSE procedures” will be amended after the Event to reflect any additional operational requirements as required. 16) Weighing and weighing platform 16.1 The FIA weighing platform will be available for teams to use at the following times, however, no more than 8 team personnel may be present during any visit. Each visit should last no more than 10 minutes unless no other team is waiting in the pit lane: a) From 11:00 on Thursday until 10:00 on Friday. b) From 12:30 on Friday until 14:30 on Saturday (between 13:00 and 14:30 each visit will be restricted to five minutes). c) From when the cars are returned to the teams after qualifying until 19:30 on Saturday. d) From 08:00 until 09:00 and 11:00 until 12:30 on Sunday. Any team found to be abusing the time limits set out above, which we will be enforced by FIA security personnel and our own CCTV, will not be permitted to use the weighbridge again during the Event. 17) Practice starts 17.1 Practice starts may only be carried out on the track at the end of each free practice session, none may be carried out in the pit lane. Any car on the track when the chequered flag is shown may then complete another lap and, instead of entering the pits, proceed to the grid and carry out a practice start. All drivers carrying out a practice must do so by pulling as far forward on the grid as possible and, if necessary, should wait for others to carry out a start before getting to a grid position further forward. Under no circumstances should a driver make a practice start if another car is still stationary in front of him on the same side of the grid. If any driver appears to be disregarding any of the above a red flag will be displayed and the possibility to carry out any further starts will be immediately terminated. 17.2 For reasons of safety and sporting equity, cars may not stop in the fast lane at any time the pit exit is open without a justifiable reason (a practice start is not considered a justifiable reason). 18) Lines or bollards at the Pit Entry and Pit Exit 18.1 In accordance with Chapter 4 (Section 5) of Appendix L to the ISC drivers must keep to the left of the solid white line at the pit exit when leaving the pits. No part of any car leaving the pits may cross this line. 3/6 18.2 For safety reasons drivers must keep to the left of the bollard at the pit entry when they are entering the pits. 18.3 Except in the cases of force majeure (accepted as such by the Stewards), the crossing by any part of the car, in any direction, of the red and white painted area, between the pit entry and the track, by a driver who, in the opinion of the Stewards, had committed to entering the pit lane is prohibited.

  • Video 14 – Turkey Preview
Video 14 – Turkey Preview [Cut to Christine. ] Chris: Welcome to Sidepodcast TV , today we are previewing the Turkish Grand Prix. [Intro shots of Turkey. Cut to Christine. ] Chris: It’s not long since Toro Rosso announced their split with driver Scott Speed in favour of German Sebastian Vettel. Now the team have announced their second Sebastian signing, this time in the form of Bourdais, double Champ Car champion. He will replace Tonio Liuzzi for the 2008 season, in a move that Liuzzi describes as unsurprising. Relationships within the team have been strained for a while, so the decision to shake thing s up a bit for 2008 can only be a good thing. I wonder if McLaren will have to do something similar. [Cut to shots of Bourdais. Cut to Christine. ] Chris: Onto Turkey, then, it’s Formula 1’s third outing at the Istanbul Park Circuit, arguably one of the best from designer Herman Tilke. The track features the incredible Turn 8, that just seems to go on and on… but… I don’t want to spoil it for you. Here’s the lap in more detail. [Cut to Allianz animation.] Chris - Voiceover Although it’s still a relatively new track, the Istanbul Park Circuit has already become a firm favourite of both teams and fans alike. It still bears all the hallmarks of the Tilke design but there are some extra special bits thrown in to make it interesting, like the fact that the course runs anti -clockwise. This is the first of only two anti -clockwise tracks this year, which makes it a tough challenge for drivers.

We have a strategy for a sustainable team. Our aim is to embed sustainability in every decision we make and action we take. It is an approach based on parallel priorities: minimising our negative impact by working towards climate action and transitioning to a circular economy, while maximising our positive impact in the areas of diversity, equality and inclusion, and the promotion of health and well-being. For decades, Formula 1, motorsport and McLaren have been an innovation lab for technologies that have transformed the automotive industry and beyond. We believe a natural part of our existence is helping tackle some of society's most important challenges. McLaren has a legacy of sustainability leadership: 10 years ago we were the first F1 team to be certified carbon neutral and have successfully retained the Carbon Trust Standard award, most recently in February 2021. McLaren was also the first team to be awarded the FIA Institute's Environmental Award in 2013, which we have consistently maintained at the three-star level.

  • A Lap of Turkey with Mark Webber
A Lap of Turkey with Mark Webber The Turkish Grand Prix. I think of anti-clockwise so a little bit harder on the neck. Also, lots of traffic again, two big bridges trying to get to the circuit, and not many spectators. Istanbul - 5.3km, 58 laps, counter- clockwise, in all 310km. Five high speed stretches, three slow turns, one ideal spot for overtaking, top speed 315km/h. Here we are at the Turkish Grand Prix in Istanbul, starting a lap in the Red Bull simulator. Braking for turn one is blind, third gear, very important to try and get a nice clean exit as we're going uphill. It looks a lot steeper than you think. Very hard on the engine, into a blind corner which is very easy to over-cook. Then into turn four which is a blind right-hander again, off-camber, still punching downhill. Through a double left, very important to get those two right. Little bit of a relax for the driver, then he's going to be arriving at turn seven. Accelerating away from turn seven to the very, very famous turn eight, which is very, very hard on the car. Big steering loads, four apexes in one corner, which is very unique, and then we plunge downhill, having done that exciting corner. Braking then for the hairpin, left hander, which is a little bit open on the exit. Good spot for the spectators to watch. Accelerating hard away into a very easy kink in a Formula One car. Maybe trying to position yourself for an overtaking move on the inside, as the slip-stream works very well along here.

  • Speed™, Fox Sports Continue Team Approach to Formula One Coverage in 2010
SPEED™, FOX SPORTS CONTINUE TEAM APPROACH TO FORMULA ONE COVERAGE IN 2010 BUXTON JOINS SPEED AS GRID REPORTER SPEEDTV.COM TO DEBUT FANTASY GAME, ENHANCED VIDEO OFFERINGS The familiar faces of Bob Varsha, David Hobbs and Steve Matchett once again will lead the SPEED/FOX Sports Formula One broadcast team as SPEED rolls into its 15 th year as the exclusive U.S. cable broadcaster of the FIA Formula One World Championship, beginning with live coverage of the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix on March 14 at 7:30 a.m. ET. One face, however, will be new to the U.S. viewing audience. Will Buxton, the 29-year-old founding editor of GPWeek magazine, will report from the grid, replacing Peter Windsor, whose efforts remain focused on his start-up US F1 project. “First up, I've got to admit that I’m just massively excited about the whole thing,” said Buxton, who will join the team shortly after he and wife Emma welcome their first child. “It’s a huge honor to be joining the SPEED team, and in particular to be doing so at the start of what could be an incredible era in the history of Formula 1. “F1 is a bit of a soap opera at times,” Buxton added. “As a journalist it’s what makes the sport such a joy to report on. There’s always something going on in the background, and I won’t shy away from doing my best to get to the heart of every issue. That said, I don’t think that my job at SPEED is simply to report the news.
