Whereas, It is with a great deal of respect and admiration for his accomplishments that we join the family of Max Fisher in remembering his significant contributions to the people of the state of Michigan. Max was a man devoted to his family, his community, and the greater good of mankind; and Whereas, Max Fisher, the son of Russian immigrants, was born in Pittsburgh on July 15, 1908, and moved to Salem, Ohio soon after. He attended Ohio State University on a football scholarship, where he played football until an injury sidelined him. Realizing the importance of education, he pressed on and graduated with a degree in business administration in 1930. Max was offered a job in Cleveland, but decided to go to Detroit, where his parents had just moved. He took a job with his father. Fisher, through his brilliance and keen instinct, expanded the operation into a multimillion dollar oil business. As the following materials document, United Brands' Max Fisher, ex-Purple Gang hood and associate of bootleggers and button men, was the center around which the opposition revolved. Recently under attack in the Israeli press for withholding funds raised by American Jewish charities from their destination in Israel, Fisher has been one of the most powerful, and most controversial, figures in the American Zionist movement. As EIR reported last week, the pressure on President Reagan has by no means let up following the AWACS vote. Max Fisher, the chairman of the Republican Party's Jewish Advisory Committee, met with Vice-President George Bush, and then on Nov. 19, the President met with 33 top financial contributors tCi his campaign who were reportedly seeking "reassurances" that Reagan would not pursue a comprehensive Middle East peace along the lines prescribed by Saudi Crown Prince Fahd, which proposes that Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization recognize each other's right to exist. These meetings were preparatory to a heavy deployment to the United States in late November by members of the Menachem Begin government of Israel, including Defense Minister Ariel Sharon and, in a last-minute addition, Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir.

    12.12.2017 The Op-Ed The New York Times Will Not Publish After a peaceful, snowy Shabbat, I opened my iPhone to catch up on the news as presented by The New York Times. I read two op-eds, the first by Max Fisher entitled “The Jerusalem Issue Explained,” and the second by David Halbfinger entitled “Daily Life in Jerusalem? Difficult and Intense for Arab and Jew.” One cannot read those op-eds without concluding that they represent fictional accounts intended to create a narrative which is critical of President Trump and United States policy to the extent it tilts ever so slightly in favor of the democracy Israel. Max Fisher may be the most culpable of all in falsely claiming that Jerusalem has been officially disputed since at least 1948, but before then the U.N. had declared it a Special International Zone. The remarkably disingenuous piece claims that in 1948, Israel seized the western half of the City and, in 1967, the eastern half. Fisher does not relate that the San Remo resolution of 1920, the Feisal-Weitzman Treaty of 1919, the Anglo-American Treaty of 1924, among others, designated the area that is now Israel, including Jerusalem, Judea/Samaria and present-day Jordan as its sacred trust for close Jewish settlement and reconstituting the Jewish homeland. It has been both history and reality that Jerusalem has been Jewish for well over 3,300 years, and only was not so during periods of genocide and persecution against the Jewish people. In 1948, Israel did not “seize” the western half but rather the Jewish majority in the Old City, the “eastern” half, were driven out by Jordanian troops equipped by their British allies and agents.

This was just three months after the start of World War II. I arrived in Haifa on December 20, 1939. My brother, who was three years older than I, made Aliya three months earlier within the framework of Youth Aliya. My parents and two sisters were killed by the Germans, but this only became known to me some time later. In 1940 I was accepted as a student in the Max Fein Technical High School in Tel Aviv and started to learn metalworking. In 1941-42 there seemed to be a danger that the Germans might invade Palestine from the direction of Egypt and the sea, under the command of Field Marshal Rommel. I was a bit young but enlisted with almost the whole class, in the Hagana. I swore my loyalty to a fellow called Al Dema in the Borochov quarter of Givataim. Al Dema was the director of the Herzliya Gymnasium in Tel Aviv. We began training, with light weapons during the day and had field practice on Saturdays. We often stood watch at strategic locations to make certain that the Germans didn't try to land paratroopers there. The peak of our service was during the vacation period of the summer of 1942 when we were taken to an English camp at Tel Litvinsky and swore our loyalty to the English monarch.

    Appendix 1(v) SEIZED DOCUMENTS: TARGETING POPULATION CENTERS IN ISRAEL USING UPGRADED 122 MM GRAD ROCKET POSITIONS 1. On August 11, 2006, during the second Lebanon war, three files were found in the village of Aita al-Shaab in the central sector of south Lebanon. They contained range cards for three 120 mm mortar and 122 mm upgraded Grad rocket fired from positions in the region of Shihin. The range cards were dated December 2005 and were for 122 mm upgraded Grad rockets (with a range of 20 km – 12.5 miles). The range cards belonged to the artillery department of the Nasr Unit, the unit responsible for the area south of the Litani River, and operating under the command of the Jihad Council.1 2. It should be noted that most of the rockets fired at Israel during the war were various types of 122 mm rockets (HE-frag rockets, cluster bombs, and upgraded rockets with extended range). The following data are for an upgraded Grad rocket: 1 The Jihad Council is a department within the Hezbollah headquarters, responsible for building up the organization’s military power and preparing it for emergencies. Hajj Imad Mughniyah, Hassan Nasrallah’s military deputy, heads it. He is wanted by the United States for the many terrorist attacks he has carried out against American targets. In addition, Argentina has issued an international warrant for his arrest because of his involvement in the 1994 bombing of the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires. 2 Upgraded 122 mm Grad rocket Diameter: 122 mm. One of the researchers suggested in his article that over 20 similar systems existed in the Galilee (Shahar 2003, 232-235).
