He scored 12 goals in the 1966 Durand Cup to play a key role in the title victory for the Gorkha Brigade in New Delhi. Rawat represented India in the 1969 Medreka Football Championship in Malaysia. In the year 1999, in its resolution, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth that 12 August be declared International Youth Day. Parliament passes Constitution (127th Amendment) Bill Parliament has unanimously passed the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2021 with the Rajya Sabha approving it. The Rajya Sabha has passed the bill with the majority of the strength of the House and not less than the two-third majority of members present in the House during voting. 187 members voted in favour of the bill while none against. The Bill allows states and Union Territories to prepare their own list of OBC. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Virendra Kumar said it will empower the state in preparing their own OBC lists so that various communities can be given social and economic justice. He said, the legislation will also help strengthen the federal structure of the country. Dr Kumar reiterated government’s commitment for the welfare of OBC community citing recent decision of allowing 27 percent OBC quota in NEET. He said, the government is committed to social justice and the legislation will help OBC community to get the benefits in education, jobs and welfare schemes being implemented by the State governments.
