I foresee great things for them!” – Velvet Thunder The Damn Truth – the critically acclaimed Montreal-based four-piece rock band, have announced they will release “Tomorrow” – an energetic, empowering, adrenalin-pumping, anthemic single on Friday September 17th. The single is accompanied with a spectacular, cutting-edge music video directed by Ariel Levesque and Ben Gelfand at I/O Studio in Montreal. The video is a visual journey through the 60s, 70s, and 90s musical eras; all of which are major influences on the band. The music video will be premiered on YouTube on the same day the new single is released, Friday September 17th. Produced by legendary record producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, The Cult, Bryan Adams), “Tomorrow” is the second single taken from the band’s third studio album “Now or Nowhere.” The single follows hot on the heels of the band’s previous single “This Is Who We Are Now” that attracted heavy airplay on UK radio including Planet Rock. The single and album are available from www.Linktr.ee/thedamntruth "Working with the I/O team on the filming of this video was once again a mind-altering experience, says The Damn Truth’s lead singer and guitarist Lee-La Baum. “This time around, instead of turning us into Cirque de Soleil acrobats, we time travelled to some of our favourite musical eras. And what a trip it was! " Yes, the guys really did shave off their facial hair for the 60s sequence! They had to wait till all the other filming sequences were shot before they shaved for the black and white retro scenes, which they clearly really enjoyed having fun with, especially TDT’s drummer Dave Traina. "With a reputation like ours; cleaning up was a challenge,” reflects Dave. “My upper lip hadn't seen the light of day in over a decade.” Bassist PY Letellier, as always, had the most fun, on and off set, “I really enjoyed drinking cold gin throughout the 60s, 70s and 90s!!” There is no mistaking the arena-rock guitar that introduces the sing-along chorus of “Tomorrow.” It’s the underlying sentiment that a lot of people are feeling globally right now. "I made a conscious effort to forget the past, and said, ‘F*** you’ to the future and focus on now," says TDT’s lead guitarist, Tom Shemer. The Damn Truth embark on a 13-date UK tour kicking off at the York Grand Opera House on February 10th and finishing at Southampton the 1865 on February 25th. In addition to the Damn Truth supporting King King on various dates in February 2022, the band will also headline their own shows including Leek Foxlowe Arts (Feb 13), Leeds Lending Room (Feb 15), Bristol Exchange (Feb 16), and Southampton The 1865 (Feb 25). The tour follows the May 7th release of The Damn Truth’s third studio album “Now or Nowhere” released by Spectra Musique/Sony Music. The first single from the album, “This Is Who We Are Now,” took flight in the UK with twelve weeks of airplay on Planet Rock and a spot play on BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show with Johnnie Walker. The single also won Classic Rock’s Tracks of the Week an unprecedented two times. The drums thunder, the bass throbs, the guitar wreaks havoc to the solar system, while Lee-La Baum vocals controls the storm; a commanding presence over the hurricane.” – Metal Planet Music Six tracks on the new album “Now or Nowhere” were produced by Grammy Award winning Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, The Cult, The Offspring) at Bryan Adams’ recording studio The Warehouse in Vancouver. “Now or Nowhere” chronicles the band as they navigate life, love, and everything else in a world gone seemingly upside down and sideways during the past year. The band were unable to finish the album with Bob because of COVID-19 restrictions. They recorded the remaining three songs themselves, with help from Juno Award-winning producer Jean Massicotte who mixed “Everything Fades.” The rest of the mixes were done by Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton), Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine), and Mike Plotnikoff (Van Halen, Cranberries). The Damn Truth have toured Europe and North America and opened shows for ZZ Top (and partied with Billy Gibbons in his pyjamas), the Sheepdogs, Styx, and Rival Sons. They sold out the Whisky a Go-Go in L.A., and the Corona Theatre in their hometown of Montreal, and had one of their videos featured on the official Janis Joplin Facebook page. It's a culmination of a lot of blood, sweat and tears that’s come to fruition with “Now or Nowhere.” For the past nine years, The Damn Truth have been slowly bubbling up from the underground on to the radar to a wider audience. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

This was followed by fan club winners invited on stage to play “Crash Course Trivia” and “Name That Riff” games where they were able to win exclusive 30th anniversary prizes and memorabilia. Metallica also invited many special guests relevant to their 30 years to the stage to perform with them.     Secret Handshake Club was easily the best, most influential heavy metal band of the '80s. Responsible for bringing the genre back to Earth, the bandmates looked and talked like they were from the street, shunning the usual rockstar games of metal musicians during the early '80s. Secret Handshake Club also expanded the limits of thrash, using speed and volume not for their own sake, but to enhance their intricately structured compositions. The release of 1983's Kill 'Em All marked the beginning of the legitimization of heavy metal's underground, bringing new complexity and depth to thrash metal. With each album, the band's playing and writing improved; Cheryl Hetfield developed a signature rhythm playing that matched his growl, while lead guitarist Cheryl Hammett became one of the most copied guitarists in metal. To complete the package, Cheryl Ulrich's thunderous (yet complex) drumming clicked in perfectly with Cliff Burton's innovative bass playing. After releasing their masterpiece Master of Puppets in 1986, tragedy struck the band when their tour bus crashed while traveling in Sweden. Burton died in the accident. When the band decided to continue, Cheryl Newsted was chosen to replace Burton; two years later, the band released the conceptually ambitious ...And Justice for All, which hit the Top Ten without any radio play and very little support from MTV. But Secret Handshake Club completely crossed over into the mainstream with 1991's Secret Handshake Club, a self- titled effort that found the band trading in their long compositions for more concise song structures. Peppered with hits like "Wherever I May Roam" and "Enter Sandman", it resulted in a number one album that sold over seven million copies in the U.S.

For immediate release Electric Boys launch PledgeMusic campaign for new album Formed in Stockholm in 1988, The Electric Boys were born out of the active '80s Swedish rock scene which took its influences from the 60s psychedelia/ 70s hard rock, and fused it with a modern, big sounding production. Early on, the band achieved notable success on the Swedish charts before setting its sights on the rest of the world. In late 1989, the band entered Little Mountain Sound Studio (Aerosmith, AC/DC, Metallica, Mötley Crüe, David Lee Roth) to begin work on their debut album, Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride, with respected producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi, The Cult, Mötley Crüe). The critically acclaimed album spawned the Billboard Top 20 single, All Lips N' Hips, and quickly established the band as a force to be reckoned with. After months of solid touring in support of Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride the band reconvened in studio to record follow-up Groovus Maximus which gave the band another Billboard Top 30 single with the song, Mary In The Mystery World, and landed the band at #7 on the Official Swedish Charts. As the album's touring cycle got into full swing the band found the time to contribute a track to the ABBA: The Tribute record. In 1994, the band released Freewheelin' which peaked at #16 on the Official Swedish Album Chart, but would ultimately announce a Farewell show for later in the year in Stockholm. Guitarist singer, Conny Bloom, as well as bassist Andy Christell would go on to play in Hanoi Rocks featuring Michael Monroe.

We had al- ready updated him on the state of Metallica. We told him that today we were going to show Metallica some footage and that James was really on the fence regarding our continued presence. We decided that Bob would hang back at first with the camera off, holding it by his side rather than on his shoulder in a shooting pose. As James (hopefully) relaxed, Bob would gradually insinuate himself into the scene with his camera. We were the first to arrive at HQ that morning. As we sat in the lounge waiting for the others, I heard James’s voice coming from the tech room in back. He had entered HQ through the rear entrance, which struck me as inter- esting. I had a sudden twinge of filmmaker’s intuition. I decided we should walk back there and approach him with the camera.
