The UK subsea sector has maintained strong growth in the face of the continuing global recession. Not only is the industry one of the connector world ! fastest-growing sectors in the UK, it captures £6 billion – almost one third – of the global market. It has successfully capitalised on the range of new challenges faced by expanding into new frontiers with deeper and more complex wells and continues to boast significant future growth potential. With that in mind, it is incumbent upon us to look to the long term future and sustainability of the industry; we must look beyond the next wave and consider how we can maintain our market position, continue to innovate and attract new talent. With this global market set to double over the next five years to £40 billion, we must ensure that we are capable of exploiting these opportunities in order to face the increasing competition from foreign markets.
