Retail LP Council Member Bios Al Dauser, CPP, CFI Al is both a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI). He has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama with a Master Of Science in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery. Al served in the US Army as a Military Policeman and Investigator and Graduate of the United States Army MP School and Military Investigators School. He has approximately 18 years in Retail Loss Preven- tion in the clothing, grocery and specialty retail segments. He is an adjunct Instructor at the College of Criminal Justice, Kaplan University and has been a previous speaker at two ASIS seminars on topics of expense fraud investigations and auditing.

William A. Alford, CFE Bill is president of International Lighthouse Group, Inc., a risk management firm specializing in retail loss prevention best practices which include identification of risks, threats and liabilities from both internal and external sources, preventing and detecting financial crimes (embezzlement and fraud), disaster management and continuity planning and minimizing risk of violent crimes against employees and customers. As the Loss Prevention Consultant to the Food Marketing Institute, Bill works on a myriad of projects throughout the organization across departmental seg- ments such as Education, Research, Legal and Food Safety. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and was the 2004 and 2005 Chairperson of the National Retail Loss Prevention Council for ASIS International and is a Contributing Editor for Loss Prevention Magazine. Bill has over 20 years experience directing loss prevention programs for retailers and has written numerous security and management-related articles for professional publications. His “real world" ap- proach to loss prevention and risk management issues and solutions appeals to both store-level management and corporate retail executives. Bill is also an accomplished speaker and has appeared before many retail trade groups and companies across the country. His presentations are delivered in an entertaining manner and focus on practical programs and ideas that can be put into place immediately by his audience.

Alan Greggo CPP, CFE Alan Greggo is the Senior Director- Loss Prevention for Luxottica Retail based in Cincinnati, OH. He has a B.S. in Law Enforcement Administration from Youngstown State University, is a board Certified Protection Professional (CPP), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a member of ASIS and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He serves on the Retail Loss Prevention Council of ASIS as the education committee chairman. He has over 26 years of Loss Prevention Experience.

David Gorman David Gorman began his retail career at Venture Stores, Inc., a Division of the May Company, in April 1973. He served as Director of Shortage Control and Inventory Administration. A position he held until leaving Venture in August 1980. In September 1980, Mr. Gorman joined Wal-Mart as Director of Internal Audit. He served in that position until 1983 when he was promoted to Vice President of Loss Prevention. At the time of his retirement from Wal-Mart in January 2002, he had Corporate-wide responsibility for Risk Control, Quality Assurance, and Loss Prevention. Mr. Gorman is currently President and CEO of David Gorman & Associates, Inc. In this role, he provides consulting services in a vari- ety of areas to both retail and supplier clients. Mr. Gorman served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969. He is a Viet Nam veteran and was awarded two Purple Hearts for wounds received in action. He graduated with a BBA in 1972 from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Illinois. He served as a member of the Retail Indus- try Leaders Association (RILA) Loss Prevention Conference Steering Committee for 20 years and as Chairman of that Committee for two separate terms. He has been a member of ASIS International since 1983, and currently serves as the Council Chair of the Retail Loss Prevention Council. He is also a member of the National Speakers Association and has provided engaging, informative, and common sense presentations on a variety of business related topics to both U.S. and International audiences.

Christopher McDonald

Christopher H. McDonald is the Director of Loss Prevention for Babies R' Us. Inc. Mr. McDonald has been with the R' Us organization for the past 10 years serving in a variety of loss prevention managerial roles. Prior to joining Ba- bies R' Us he worked in the field of loss prevention and retail operations for Office Depot, The Hartmarx Retail Group, and formerly Bank South. His professional interests include general LP knowledge with emphasis on audit, inventory control, and finance. Kim McReynolds

Kim McReynolds, Currently Director of Loss Prevention & Risk Management, Fry’s Food Stores, A division of The Kroger Company. Keith A. Meyerson Keith Meyerson has been the Regional Director of Security Services-East for Tiffany & Co since 1996. He is respon- sible for the security efforts of retail branches in the domestic east regions (4 Regional Managers) and oversees Tiffany & Co. Security Training School (STS) and training & development of all security professionals worldwide. Keith has been a speaker at ASIS, NRF and ASTD on Multimedia Training. He is a member of ASIS, NRF and ASTD as well as a member of ASIS Committee on Retail Loss Prevention and the Joint Organized Retail Crime Task Force (JORCTF). Previously, Keith’s experience includes positions as the Corporate Security Manager for Polo Ralph Lau- ren, a Loss Prevention Supervisor for The Home Depot, a Special Investigator for TJ Maxx and an Officer/EMT for US Surgical and a Sergeant, Intelligence Analyst for USMC. Richard H. Frank, CPP Rich is the Group Manager of Loss Prevention and Safety Services for Eddie Bauer Fulfillment Services, Inc in Colum- bus Ohio. EBFS as the company is known, is a subsidiary of the Eddie Bauer Holdings, Inc. They provide retail and di- rect to customer distribution services as well as operating customer contact centers in the U.S. and Canada. Rich has been at EBFS since 1993 when the company was formed. Prior to moving to Ohio, Rich held several positions at Spiegel, Inc in , including Corporate Loss Prevention Manager and Corporate Retail Security Manager. His secu- rity career began in 1972, holding positions with several retail firms. Rich is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Administration of Criminal Justice. He is Board certified in Security Management, which is the Certified Protec- tion Professional or CPP designation of the American Society for Industrial Security. Rich has been a member of the Retail Loss Prevention Council since 1985.

Carol A. Martinson

Carol is the Vice President, Asset Protection, Supervalu, Inc. a wholesale and retail grocery company. Michael S. Magill, CFE, CPP Mike is the President of Magill & Associates, a Private Investigations and Loss Prevention Consulting firm. He is a former Certified Protection Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner, and a Licensed Investigator in the State of California. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii, with a BA in Asian Studies (with history and languages as sub-majors). Mike served in Viet-Nam for two and a half years as a Vietnamese Interpreter, working in military intelligence, and with the Chieu Hoi defector program. Mike has been in the loss prevention and investigative fields for almost 40 years, handling credit frauds, embezzlements, white collar crime, refund fraud, general theft, computer crime and fraud, prescription fraud and theft, and other retail-related issues. He worked for Montgom- ery Ward as their District Security and Safety Manager for California/Nevada, and was the first Loss Prevention Director for Longs Drug Stores, a fortune 500 company, where he worked for 16 years until his retirement in 1997. He is now the President/Owner of Magill & Associates, and specializes in Private Investigations, LP Con- sulting and Litigation Support. He is the Chairman of the Review and Education Committees for the ASIS International’s Retail Loss Preven- tion Council, as well as a Life Member and a Member of the Quarter Century Club; a member of PPIAC, CALI, ACFE, and numerous other in- vestigative and security associations. He is also a Court Appointed Special Advocate for CASA of the Pikes Peak Region. Mike is a frequent speaker for ASIS International, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Institute of Internal Auditors, California Association of Licensed In- vestigators, Professional Private Investigator’s Association of Colorado, and other professional groups. Robert (Bob) Caruso Mr. Robert (Bob) Caruso is the Senior Vice President of Metro One Loss Prevent Services Group and a former retail executive with over 30 years experience in the Retail Loss Prevention field. Mr. Caruso attended St. Johns Univer- sity in New York and achieved a BS degree in 1978. Mr. Caruso went back to St Johns and worked at St Johns as an Adjunct Associate Professor teaching the CPP course. Mr. Caruso has worked as a Director or Vice President at The Children’s Place, Sterns and J Crew to name a few. He has been a member of ASIS since 1980 and has been a hands-on member of the Retail Council for two years and is also a member of the NRF and the Cargo Council.

Donald J Horan, CPP

Donald Horan is a consultant for Gordon Brothers Companies, a Boston-based consulting firm specializing in merchandising and financial solutions for the retail industry. Mr. Horan develops and implements loss prevention programs for the company’s clientele providing LP expertise and store support to enhance inventory control and improve shrink performance.

Joe Davis, CPP Joe Davis serves as Director of Loss Prevention and Operations Strategy at Wren, where he directs the product management efforts of the company and serves as subject matter expert in retail and loss prevention. Davis also provides consulting services to customers looking to develop successful loss prevention programs. A vet- eran of the retail industry, Mr. Davis has more than 15 years of experience in both operations and loss preven- tion in respected retail organizations. Mr. Davis began his retail career in 1987 in an entry-level operations posi- tion at Wal-Mart. From there, he was promoted nine times during his 12-year career with the retail giant. In 2002, Davis was the recipient of Wal-Mart Loss Prevention’s prestigious Visionary Award for his work in redefin- ing the way Wal-Mart managed loss prevention. Davis also served as Vice President of Loss Prevention at Gar- den Ridge, a home-decorating retailer, where he and his team reduced shrink in key stores by 27 percent in one year. Mr. Davis is a Certified Protection Professional, the security profession’s highest designation for practitioners, and was selected in January 2006 by Chain Store Age as one of retail’s top 40 rising stars under 40. Liz Martinez Liz Martinez is a faculty member at Interboro Institute and Katharine Gibbs School, two-year colleges in New York City, where she teaches security management and criminal justice courses, including a specialized course in Retail Security. She is a N.Y. State certified security guard instructor who also teaches the New York State Office of Home- land Security's 40-Hour Enhanced Security Guard Program as well as FEMA's Introduction to Incident Command System (IS-100) and National Incident Management System -- NIMS (IS-700). She also lectures on the topics of organized crime, criminal justice, security and publishing for chapters of ASIS International, Contingency Planning Expo (CPM West), ISC West, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Learning Annex, New Jersey Opticians Association, Police Writers Conference, and Vision Expo West, and has trained USMC officers to deal effectively with the media during the East Coast Commanders Media Training Symposium. She holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Jus- tice, an M.A. in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University, and is completing an M.S. in Loss Prevention and Safety from Eastern Kentucky University. She is the author of the book "The Retail Manager's Guide to Crime and Loss Prevention: Protecting Your Business from Theft, Fraud and Violence" (2004, Looseleaf Law Publications) and a contributor to the "The Encyclopedia of Security Management, 2nd Edition" (2007, ASIS International). Steve Lindsey, CPP Steve Lindsey, CPP is currently the Director of Security Services, a department within Global Security for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. that provides design, installation and service of fire and security systems. Lindsey also has the re- sponsibility of Global Readiness, Global Supply Chain Security, Travel Safety and Executive Protection. Lindsey has been with Wal-Mart for over 26 years holding various positions within the Loss Prevention/Asset Protection Department to include the Director of Sam’s Club Loss Prevention and Wal-Mart’s first Director of Homeland Se- curity. Lindsey graduated from Missouri Southern University in 1980 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. Lindsey is a recent graduate of the International Security Manager Association’s Georgetown University Leadership Program.

Gary L Widman

Gary Widman has been dedicated to providing innovative business, operations and loss prevention technol- ogy/process solutions for more than two decades. He is also an experienced sales and marketing profes- sional and has held various management and leadership roles with such companies as Pitney Bowes, Checkpoint Systems, Sensormatic Electronics, TRAX Consulting, and Cooper Wheelock. Gary started his career in the early ‘70’s with Pitney Bowes, providing business technology solutions to the banking, insur- ance and utilities segments. In the early 80’s he was recruited to Checkpoint Systems, where he and his team implemented the first west coast RF Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) installations in retail. In the late 80’s, he was asked to move to Checkpoint’s New Jersey headquarters to expand this success, by devel- oping a completely new sales training and management development function for the company. In 1991, he went on to provide Sales and Asset Protection technology consulting. In 1994, he was recruited by Sensor- matic Electronics to manage the Eastern U.S., focusing on the food industry. In 1998 he was asked to lead the marketing strategy for this $50 million segment of Sensormatic's business from their headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida. Gary’s international experience includes working with retailers in Europe, Mexico, Canada and South America. He has also served as guest speaker to the Mexican retail association (ANTAD) and the National Retail Federation (NRF) on the topics of shrink reduction, increased sales and profit improvement. He specializes in technology and process implementation - to include assessment, implementation, train- ing, measurement, and expansion. As a professional trainer, he is certified to instruct, facilitate and coach in several key proc- esses/programs. Additionally, he develops customized training programs to meet specific requirements. Gary resides in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Del and daughter Christine. He desires someday to stay off of airplanes long enough to improve his golf game. Hedgie Bartol

Hedgie has been serving the Loss Prevention Market since the mid nineties. He has represented security solu- tions for Identity Theft and Fraud to Access Control, Time & Attendance and now Systems Integration with Die- bold. In 2004 he joined Diebold as their Retail Business Development manager and has been having a blast ever since! Shannon K. Stilwell, CPP, CFE Shannon is the Loss Prevention Project Manager for Borders Group Inc where she manages their LP Systems includ- ing their exception based reporting (EBR) package, Web-Based to PDA Audit Program, and internal LP Website along with providing support and training to the field LP team. She previously worked for Gottschalks Inc and Hollywood Entertainment giving her a range of experience from Big Box Department Stores to Specialty Retail. Throughout her career, she has held various positions from Field LP to the Corporate Environment broadening her scope and per- spective. She is a designated CPP and CFE and is a member of ASIS International, ASIS Retail LP Council, ASIS Local Chapter—Detroit #008, ACFE, Southeast Michigan Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the NRF Women in LP Caucus. Dwayne M. Duhon, CPP, EPP, CCI, CIHP~V, CAS Dwayne is a former police officer and former deputy Sheriff from Louisiana. He is a graduate from Northeast Louisiana University in Criminal Justice. He was the founding president of the Lambda Alpha Epsilon Law En- forcement Fraternity at NLU. Dwayne was on the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Dept. SWAT team, pistol team. While on the pistol team, he took 1st place in the NRA Louisiana State Pistol competitions and took 2nd place at the NRA Nationals in Jackson, Miss. In 1973, Dwayne was wounded in the line of duty while working narcotics at the Port of Lake Charles. He took a leave of absence from the S.O. in 1975 to run for Chief of Police of West- lake, LA. Dwayne came in 2nd and was ironically defeated by a long time family friend, who happens to still be friends of the Duhons in the Bayou. Dwayne joined Kroger in 1976 in Nashville and was with Kroger for 28 years. He started his career as their Security Manager and later promoted to their Risk Manager. In 1989, he was asked to be their lobbyist and treasurer of their Political Action Committee. He left Kroger in 2003 when they announced they were shutting down the Nashville Division. He opened Business Risk Services in Franklin, where he of- fers guards and investigations. He conducts bug sweeps and conducts physical security surveys for clients throughout the US and Can- ada. He belongs to ASIS. He serves on the faculty of Nashville Tech and he serves on the faculty of International Warehouse Logistics Association. He is a member of American College of Forensic Examiners. He is an honorary lifetime member of the TN Chief’s of Police Association and he is a honorary lifetime member of the TN Sheriff’s Association. He is the only civilian in the State to hold such an honor. Dwayne has also been a member of the Crime Stoppers of Nashville since 1983. He has served through the rank and file of their Execu- tive committee, chairing various sub-committees through the years. During his time, he has served as their Chairman or President of the board for the past 5 years and has been elected to serve for his 6th year in 2007. He single handedly acquired a 2007 Chevrolet Pick-up truck that is to be used by any board member or by our Police Liaison to drive anywhere in the city or outside the city to help raise aware- ness of Crime Stoppers. He also on his own initiative acquired a police lighting company to donate the lighting for the truck. Dwayne is married to Helen Duhon for 33 years after dating all through high school and college. They have three children, Brandon, Marcus and Anna. All three are grown. He enjoys hunting, jogging, boating.

Dan J. Doyle, CPP, CFE, CFI

Daniel J. Doyle, CPP, CFE, CFI is the Vice President of Loss Prevention and Human Resources Administration for Beall’s, Inc., a 530 store chain based in Florida which operates department and outlet stores. Dan has over 24 years of retail experience in the Loss Prevention and Human Resources areas with prior positions at Marshall Fields and Lord & Taylor. Dan holds a BA degree from the University of Wisconsin, is the chairman of the NRF LP Advisory Council, a member of the ASIS LP Council, a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Retail Federation, sits on the Loss Prevention Magazine Editorial Board and a Director for the Center for Interviewer Standards & Assess- ments LTD. During his career, Dan has been a frequent conference presenter and has been interviewed by a number of media outlets; including ABC’s 20/20, the Wall Street Journal and USA Today on various Loss Pre- vention related issues.

Thomas (Tom) Nelson, CFE, PI Tom joined Ocean State Job Lot as the Director of Security and Safety in 2002. He joined OSJL to develop the safety plans and security systems for a 750,000 sq foot Distribution Center and upgrade the security system and procedures within the existing stores as well as develop the safety and environmental plans for the chain. Tom holds a Certified Fraud Examiner certification and is a Licensed Private Investigator in the state of Rhode Island. He is a graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Nelson has 35 years of experience in retail stores and additionally has held sales and consulting positions. Prior to joining OSJL Mr. Nelson was a founding associate at Aspect Loss Prevention, a Loss Prevention Consulting Firm and provider of Exception Based POS Software. In this position he serviced several major retail customers, con- ducted all the training of the Exception Reporting Software and provided consulting services to several clients. Tom Has had held senior loss prevention positions as Vice President of Loss Prevention at Kay Bee Toys, Hit or Miss and Chadwick’s of Boston. Tom Started his career at Department Stores where held several posi- tions in Logistics, Accounting, and Internal Audit. He has been a prior speaker at the NRF and is a current member of the ASIS Loss Preven- tion Council and a long time member of ASIS. On a personal level Mr. Nelson has been an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years and has held various positions including a member of the Board of Directors for OLD COLONY COUNCIL BSA which services 41 towns in southeastern MA and approximately 14,000 youth and adults. Michael McCallister, CPP

Michael (Mike) McCallister is the Loss Prevention Manager with Macy’s Midwest in Barboursville, West Virginia. Mr. McCallister has been with Federated Department Stores organization for 23 years serving in a variety of loss prevention roles. Mr. McCallister is serving his second year as ASIS Chapter Chairman, Central West Virginia 086.

Mark Gaudette Mark Gaudette is the Director of Loss Prevention for Big Y Foods, Inc., an independently owned 56-store supermarket chain doing business in Massachusetts and Connecticut. His professional experience spans over 30 years in all aspects of the retail industry from sales to operations. He is currently responsible for the Loss Prevention and Security needs of all 56-Supermarkets, 25 Pharmacy locations, 2 Distribution Centers, and the Corporate Headquarters. Mark is an active member of ASIS International serving as Treasurer of the Western Mass Chapter 212, Mark has served on the Food Market Institutes Loss Prevention National Committee for the last two years, is a board member of the Mass Food Associations (MFA) Loss Prevention Council, is a member of the Associa- tion of Certified Fraud Examiners, Western Mass Chiefs of Police Association, Mass Chiefs of Police Associa- tion, Security and Loss Prevention Association (Western Mass), Connecticut Loss Prevention Association, and is the recipient of the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley’s 2005 Hometown Hero Award.
