This week we caught up with a relative new comer to the Club who wears a number of hats, although I didn’t realize it was all Ian’s fault, always good to blame the kids. U12 Blue V Zillmere Eagles 15/5/2011 Well, what a hard fought game it was. The Coorparoo boys played all over the eagles maintaining about 70% of the play in their own half of the ground. But unfortuately they couldn't convert that on to the score board. It was a low scoring affair with the Roos going down 1.4.10 to 2.2.14. It was a game where the Roos peppered the forward line in the first quarter with very little result to show for it. Our cen- tre line and rucks were dominant with Sam Ryan and Huddo getting plenty of the ball. In the second quarter Zillmere booted thru 2 goals and that's the way the score stayed until the Roos got 1 goal back in the third quarter. In the final quarter, with the Coorparoo boys kicking to the non scoring end, they never gave up pushing the ball into the 50metre arch time and time again, but to no avail. There were a number of heavy bumps during the contest with Harrison being chaired off in the second quarter with and ankle and booted a major. The game was played mostly injury, but returning later in the game and having a forward of the centre line with the forwards battling to blinder. AJ copped a jarred knee in the second quarter as lock the ball in and the centres continuing to feed the ball well, but to all the boys credit they didn't drop their heads in. Luke was showing dash from defence and Isaac kept the hard Mark running in the midfield to be the outlet. Our Golden recruit Fletcher let fly with a long bomb and Sean roved beautifully for a great goal. The strongest feature of the 2nd term was the boys improving their second efforts. Flynn was influential in the centres and Ryan was memorable for a courageous "Browny" mark running back with teh flight of the ball. Hamish's tackling pressure corralled his opponent deep into the attacking pocking stopping a likely goal. The 3rd started with Alex winning the ruck and tapping to Hamish for the first centre break. James F marked strongly at CHF again and unselfishly tried to pass off, narrowly missing the target. Nathan won a tap to Sean who released Alex's run. Anthony set the tone for a great bit of team play with a mark and pass to Fletcher whose long kick was marked by Luke. The boys were applying terrific pressure to which was creating turnovers. In attack James F marked strongly and goaled, whilst Sean made a wonderful intercept in defence. In the dying moments of the term, super-sub Ben put his body on the line to earn a steadying free kick before releasing Ryan.
