7 Transition to TAP from Tokens

• To ke n sales decreased by an estimated 3.2 million or 24.4% systemwide from 2013 to 2017 • Encourage TAP card use for additional customer benefits: balance protection, free 2-hour Metro transfers, account-based transportation programs • To k e n Elimination Dates  May 15, 2018: Vendors can no longer order tokens  September 30, 2019: Tokens can no longer be sold to customers  November 29, 2019: Last day tokens are accepted

• Current token holders are encouraged to use tokens to load onto a TAP card • Unused tokens cannot be returned for refund

9 Selling Stored Value Onboard Bus

• Reload – Customers can reload their TAP card if it has insufficient funds for base fare or transfer – Maximum amount is $20 per transaction on Metro buses • Replacement of Day Pass with Stored Value – Metro Day Passes are not eliminated from the Metro system; they will continue to be sold where all TAP cards are sold (except on Metro buses)

10 TAP Vending Machine Enhancements

• Ability to purchase EZ transit pass • Ability to customize Stored Value purchase in increments of $1.00 • Ability to purchase up to 5 TAP cards loaded with Metro Day Pass

• TAP fareboxes on buses and rail station validators are being upgraded to provide customers with: • Near real-time communication to speed up delivery of fare products purchased online or over phone • Easier-to-read screens • Installation to begin in February 2019 – Completion by Summer 2019

• TAP Vending Machines at rail stations, Orange Line, Center, Patsaouras Plaza, & Silver Line • TVMs also coming soon to Downtown Long Beach, Torrance, Culver City and Norwalk • Over 430 vendor locations throughout LA County including most LA County Libraries.
