Chart-topping hits include “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “,” and “,” which brought The Four Seasons the highest honour: induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Audition and Rehearsal Information Please read all information carefully. All roles are available for Jersey Boys however you must be 18 years old or older to apply. Diversity is encouraged and all ethnic groups and ages are welcome to audition. All roles available are on a contracted and remunerated basis.

Audition Dates and Venues Christchurch: Tuesday 20 October 2020; 10am until 3pm (agency and open auditions) Venue: Showbiz Christchurch, 369 Saint Asaph Street, Central City

Auckland: Wednesday 28 (agency only) and Thursday 29 (open auditions) October 2020 10am – 5pm Venue: Herald Theatre, 50 Mayoral Drive, Auckland CBD

If you are recalled for a role this will occur in Auckland on Saturday 31 October (at your own cost).

For any enquires other than audition bookings please contact [email protected] What you need to know • Please prepare a musical theatre song of two minutes duration or less (in its entirety or a cut down version of the song) that showcases your voice to its best advantage - preferably this will be in the style of the featured role for which you are auditioning. Please also prepare 16 bars of a rock n’ roll song that shows as much range as possible which is not a song from the show. We may stop you if the song is longer than two minutes. • Please be prepared with your sheet music for your own selection songs (no chord charts). We will provide an accompanist for all auditions. Backing track facilities will not be available. • There will be a dance audition as part of the process, and you will be advised of your slot for this once you have booked your initial audition. Where possible this will be aligned with and within an hour either side of your audition slot. • Some featured roles have an associated audition song as noted below (Frankie/Bob Gaudio Tommy/ plus all female roles). Please be familiar with this selection. We may or may not ask you to sing a portion of it. You will also need to be prepared to present a choreographed routine on the day as part of your audition. • To view the choreography audition videos and/or download the audition songs please click here. Please email [email protected] for the password or please check your confirmation email for the password after booking your audition time. • There will also be some cold readings for all auditionees as part of the process. These will be available prior to your audition on the day so please leave time to go over these before the audition. In most cases we will be seeking a strong New Jersey accent for delivery of the dialogue.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1. All auditions will be held in intervals of five minutes and are by appointment only. Auditions will only be held in Christchurch and Auckland. 2. On the day of your audition you will be required to complete an audition application form and supply a recent picture of yourself and your CV. Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes before your audition time to complete the forms and prepare yourself. These forms are also available for download at www.gntproductions.co.nz/auditions 3. Auditions are at the risk and the sole financial responsibility of the auditionee. 4. Auditionees may be photographed and recorded as part of their participation in the audition process for casting purposes. 5. Auditionees may be asked to be recorded for media purposes, either inside or outside of the audition room, with such recording to possibly be used for promotional content of the production process including, but not limited to; news stories, programming for broadcast and social media. Such recording will be voluntary and without compensation. 6. You will need to be available for all daytime rehearsals scheduled from Monday 1 March until Saturday 17 April 2021. Rehearsals will be held five to six days a week dependent on show requirements and the rehearsals are anticipated to be held at a central Auckland venue.

Rehearsals Rehearsals will commence for the show in Auckland at the beginning of March 2021. Rehearsals are expected to be five or six days a week on a full-time basis. Publicity dates and costume fittings may be required in advance of these dates (exact dates to be advised). For the purposes of contracting and acceptance of roles, all those working on the production will considered to be Auckland based. Throughout the season in Auckland and Wellington there may be some additional rehearsals called as part of the normal maintenance of the show.

There will also be two full days of rehearsals scheduled for Wednesday 19 May and Thursday 20 May 2021 to enable transfer of the show from Auckland to Wellington. Dependent on requirements some time may also be required on Friday 21 May prior to the first performance in Wellington.

FRANKIE VALLI – Lead (must be 176cms or shorter) Charismatic and charming; must be a very strong actor (comfortable with narrative text) and have a gritty side as well as a polished veneer; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. STAGE AGE – 20 to 35 VOCAL & OTHER: Must have a strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto and be able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli. A strong tenor to high A or Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G. AUDITION SONG: Walk Like A Man

BOB GAUDIO – Lead (ability to play piano a plus, but not necessary) An intelligent, sensitive and introspective musical prodigy. Also needs to be comfortable with narrative text. Ideally Bob will be tall. STAGE AGE – 20 to 35 VOCAL & OTHER: A strong tenor/baritone voice, needs strong high G; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies AUDITION SONG: December 63’ (Oh What A Night)

TOMMY DEVITO – Lead (ability to play guitar a very strong plus) A natural-born leader with an appealing, bad-boy quality. Also needs to be comfortable with narrative text. STAGE AGE – 30 to 39 VOCAL & OTHER: A strong tenor/baritone voice; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. AUDITION SONG: Earth Angel

NICK MASSI – Lead (ability to play the bass a plus, but not necessary) A quiet dreamer who longs for life after The Four Seasons. Needs to be comfortable with narrative text. STAGE AGE – 30 to 39 VOCAL & OTHER: A strong bass/baritone voice, low E would be an asset; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies AUDITION SONG: Big Girls Don’t Cry “silly boy… silly girl”

GYP DECARLO - Supporting A tough, mafioso type; must be a good actor and strong . STAGE AGE – 45 to 55 VOCAL & OTHER: Strong singer

BOB CREWE - Supporting An intelligent and flamboyant; genius music producer and lyricist; an integral part of creating the magic of The Four Seasons. May understudy the role of Bob Gaudio. STAGE AGE – 30 to 40 VOCAL & OTHER: Strong singer/actor

JOE PESCI - Supporting A young, energetic character that is streetwise. Must be a good actor and a strong singer. May understudy the role of Frankie Vallie. STAGE AGE – 20 to 40 VOCAL & OTHER: Must have a strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto and be able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli. A strong tenor to high A or Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G.

NICK DEVITO - Supporting Is part of the Variety Trio and Tommy’s brother. STAGE AGE – 25 to 35 VOCAL & OTHER: Strong singer and comfortable with four-part harmonies

BARRY BELSON – Supporting A strong actor and singer to play various roles (friends, producers, etc) STAGE AGE – 20 to 49 VOCAL & OTHER: A strong tenor to high C, with a strong falsetto to G above high C; has the ability to riff in rhythm-and-blues style.

NORM WAXMAN – Supporting A loan shark from Las Vegas. Strong actor and singer to play various roles (friends, producers, etc). This role may understudy the role of Tommy Devito. STAGE AGE – 30 to 49 VOCAL & OTHER: A strong tenor/baritone voice; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies.

MARY - Supporting A strong singer, actor, and dancer; Frankie’s wife; tough, "seen it all," Italian, Jersey girl; she’s got a killer sense of humour; actor also plays a variety of other roles, including member of a 60s style girl group. STAGE AGE – 20 to 39 VOCAL & OTHER: A strong belt useful. A high straight tone soprano useful but not required. AUDITION SONG: My Boyfriend’s Back

LORRAINE - Supporting A fabulous, versatile actress, singer, and dancer with flexible vocal registers to play a variety of roles (the many girlfriends of The Four Seasons, etc); should fit well together a la 60s band Shangri-las and be believable as "tough-as-nails" Jersey girls; must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. STAGE AGE – 20 to 35 VOCAL & OTHER: Versatile voice with a strong belt. AUDITION SONG: My Boyfriend’s Back

FRANCINE – Supporting A fabulous, versatile actress, singer, & dancer with flexible vocal register to play a variety of roles (Frankie’s teenage daughter, the many girlfriends of The Four Seasons, etc); should fit well together a la 60s band Shangri-las and be believable as ‘tough-as-nails’ Jersey girls; must be very comfortable with traditional four- part harmonies. STAGE AGE – 20 to 35 VOCAL & OTHER: Versatile voice with a strong belt. AUDITION SONG: My Boyfriend’s Back

FEMALE ENSEMBLE/SWING x 1 A versatile actress/singer/dancer with flexible vocal registers to play a variety of roles as well as understudy the roles of Mary, Lorraine and Francine. STAGE AGE – 20 to 39 VOCAL & OTHER: Versatile voice with a strong belt. AUDITION SONG: My Boyfriend’s Back

MALE ENSEMBLE/SWING x 4 Versatile actors/singers and movers with strong actors and singers to play various roles (friends, producers, police officers, studio engineers etc). All ensemble/swings must be comfortable with narrative text and with singing four-part harmonies. Any abilities to play guitar, bass or drums a strong plus. STAGE AGE – 20 to 59 VOCAL & OTHER: All four men need to be strong singers.
