  • Draft Map and the List of Administrative Units
Defining the Scope of Application for the Strategy for Development of Sustainable Tourism of the Carpathians: Draft map and the list of administrative units The Carpathian Convention Working Group on Sustainable Tourism at its meeting on 12-14 May 2014, Bratislava, Slovakia, discussed the map presented below. The Working Group concluded that along with administrative units, the map should include the geographical scope of the Carpathians as it is currently defined by the Party. The geographical scope of the Carpathians defines the core area for implementing the actions outlined in the strategy, while the administrative borders are useful for decision making, resource allocation and monitoring purposes. The Working Group decided to develop two maps that may be useful during the implementation of the strategy: 1. A map of local administrative units on LAU1 level in EU countries, “raions” in Ukraine and municipalities in Serbia that also features the geographical scope of the Carpathians. Such map may be helpful when involving the authorities and stakeholders into project development and implementation and when action is needed for decision making and implementation on the smallest administrative level. 2. A map of administrative units at NUTS3 or NUTS2 level, “oblast” in Ukraine and districts in Serbia that also features the geographical scope of the Carpathians. Such map would be useful when action is needed on the regional decision level, and whenever the interlinkage of the Carpathians with surrounding areas is important (e.g. for optimizing

  • Parliamentary Elections in Bihor County and Their Results Between the Two World Wars
Revista Română de Geografie Politică Year XII, no. 1, May 2010, pp. 98-115 ISSN 1454-2749, E-ISSN 2065-1619 Article no. 121109-187 PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN BIHOR COUNTY AND THEIR RESULTS BETWEEN THE TWO WORLD WARS Gabriel MOISA * Abstract: Between the World Wars, Oradea was a cosmopolitan city. As we have seen, the Romanians were not the majority population. Those who dominated the city under demographic and economic aspect were the Hungarians and Jews. In political terms, since the early 20’s, the most of the Romanians of Bihor County were subordinated to the most important party in Transylvania, the Romanian National Party, while the Hungarians adopted immediately after unification a political attitude circumscribed to passivity. After this period, the political life will greatly diversify in Transylvania together with the offensive of the parties in the Old Kingdom while the Hungarians will gradually accept to engage themselves in the political affairs of the city and country. Key words: Bihor county, parliamentary elections, interwar period, politic parties After unification, the political Bihor County life experienced substantial changes absolutely necessary to fit to the administrative structure of the Great Romania.

  • Restructurări Plan-Spaţiale În Evoluţia Recentă a Albiei Crişului Repede (Între Ciucea Şi Oradea)
Restructurări plan-spaţiale în evoluţia recentă a albiei Crişului Repede (între Ciucea şi Oradea) D. PETREA 1, I. RUS 1, Rodica PETREA 2 Abstract: Spatial Restructurations in the Recent Evolution of the Crisul Repede alluvial Channel. The analysis of several cartographic documents, of satellite and radar sceneries containing the main spatial features of the alluvial channel of the Crisul Repede river (north-western Romania) represented at different successive temporal referential stages (topographic maps drawn up in 1967, and respectively 1996, satellite and radar sceneries taken in 2000 and 2002) allowed us to determine certain and significant changes within the morphodynamic status of the river. These changes are emphasized through the spatial migration of meandering sectors, accompanied by the scroll bars as well as the erosion river banks sectors migration, the growing rate of the braiding process within the alluvial channel and so on. The present study is focused on the causal explanation of the different spatial restructuration of the river’s alluvial channel configuration. This quality proves to be an expedite and useful approach to the identification of the main causes which determine the spatial variability of its pattern. The comparison of the mentioned maps and sceneries revealed the following significant aspects: 1. the growing tendency of the braiding process in the alluvial channel morphodynamics as a consequence of the spectacular increase of the solid discharge rate determined, in turn, by the severe deforestation that has taken place recently in the main basins of the Crisul Repede tributaries (Dragan and Iada rivers); 2. the development of the anthropic delta at the top of Lugasu de Jos-Tileagd lakes; 3.
