  • BORN INTO RACING 60S and 70S
THE APRILIA SUCCESS STORY BORN INTO RACING With 294 Grand Prix races won in Road Racing World Championship, Aprilia holds the record for the most wins of any European manufacturer in the history of maximum motorcycle competition. These are joined by an impressive 54 world titles: 38 in Road Racing World Championship (20 in 125 and 18 in 250), 7 in Superbike (Rider and Manufacturer double win in 2010, 2012 and 2014, manufacturers in 2013) and 9 in Off Road disciplines (7 in Supermoto and 2 in Trial). In December 2004 Aprilia becomes part of the Piaggio Group which, with the reorganisation of the Noale Racing Division, takes the Veneto-based brand to victories in World Championship Motorcycle Racing and broadens the horizons of sport activity: from the return to the off road discipline, world rally to the début – in 2009 – of the Aprilia RSV4 in World Superbike. During the same period Aprilia has also accumulated 28 World Titles and a countless collection of European and national titles. Every weekend, all over the world, Aprilia motorcycles take to the track on international and local circuits, holding high the honour of Italian and European motorcycling, feeding the biker's desire to race and raising up young riders destined to enter into the world championship world. 60s and 70s Aprilia begins manufacturing motorcycles at the end of the 60's and already in 1970 produces a motocross "fifty" which would evolve into a 125, until arriving at the first competition motocross bike in the mid 70's. After the début in the Motocross sport in 1975, Aprilia enters World Championship Motorcycle Racing to challenge the unbeatable Japanese in the extremely competitive 250 class.

  • Alex Rins Profile
ALEX RINS PROFILE Alex Rins lex Rins was born on December 8th, 1995 in Barcelona, Spain to Rafael and Victoria. His first contact with the world of motorsport occurred very early in his Álife, as is so often the case with riders in World Championship racing! The first time he had a go on a motorised machine, Álex was only three. It was in 1998, when he was able to ride a quad that he had been given as a present. It was only his first try, but it would leave a significant and permanent mark on him. Three years later, in 2001, a couple of friends of his father, Rafa, encouraged him to put Álex on a motorcycle just as a test. Rafa put his son on a Lem when he was four, and it seems that experience changed the rest of his life. It was enough to make him finally park the quad and start to dream of owning his own bike. Because of his insistence, Rins fulfilled his dream two years later and his parents ended up buying him a 50cc KTM motocross bike. GROWING UP On the Constantí circuit he nurtured his passion and began to train with his motorcycle. In Moto2 he didn’t let anyone down. In his first year, Álex was more than successful, The following year, in 2003, thanks in great part to Montse Costa, he was able to participate closing the season with the runner-up title and again receiving the Rookie of the Year in the Catalan and Aragonese Championships, obtaining a victory in the latter.

  • Press Release Max Biaggi 2010 World Superbike Champion
PRESS RELEASE MAX BIAGGI 2010 WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPION ON AN APRILIA: THIS IS THE ITALIAN RIDER'S FIFTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. APRILIA CLOSE TO THE MANUFACTURER TITLE. Imola, 26 September 2010 – Max Biaggi is World SBK champion at the end of a difficult and exciting weekend on the Imola track. Thanks to the fifth place earned in race 2, Biaggi brought the point gap to 63 points between him and Leon Haslam (Suzuki), who was the last rider in contention for the title (413 to 350). A gap impossible to fill with only the French round at Magny Cours to go until the end of the season. Max Biaggi – with his fifth title after four consecutive world championships, from 1994 to 1997 in the 250 class – is the first Italian World Superbike champion . In the manufacturer standings Aprilia (433 points) is 41 points ahead of Ducati (392). Nine points will be enough for the Veneto-based team to take the manufacturer championship. But Imola was not the site of a simple race day: delayed at the start of race 1, Biaggi had to settle for a placement (11th). Race 2 was an entirely different story. Abandoning any use of tactics, Max forced his Aprilia RSV4 into the front positions, battling for the podium right from the first turn. The fifth place he ended up with handed Max the championship title a round early and evoked an explosion of rejoicing from the thousands of fans who had come out to the circuit to cheer on the most famous Corsair in world motorcycle racing.
