Objective to promote a high level of safety and a cleaner environment in Brunei Darussalam Policies Policy Statements of National Land Use Master Plan 2006 – 2025

Transit oriented development principles shall be support in the future urban development of Brunei-Muara District

Road based transport remain a major component of a national transport network, and shall be continually improved and upgraded so as to improve traffic movement and support the development of the preferred settlement pattern of the National Land Use Master Plan (NLUMP)

Major extensions to the national land - based transport network shall be explored with a view to providing a more direct and controlled route for inter-state land based transport. Priority shall be given to initiating inter-state consultations

Air and Sea transport infrastructure shall be enhance to effectively service the national freight and passenger needs

Future strategies for a long term national transport network in Brunei shall incorporate a technologically advanced and energy efficient mass transit line haul system. Programmes A. National Development Plan 2007 – 2012 New Road Linkages to provide accessibility and promote development at rural areas, matching forecasted growth in traffic demand

Upgrading Major Interchanges to increase capacity, relief traffic congestion and improve road safety by providing a grade separated interchanges with free flow traffic and removing ‘U – turns’ at traffic safety hazards

Upgrading of District Roads and Junctions to higher capacity to deal with future anticipated traffic flows. Also as a continuous road maintenance programme to lengthen the life span of the road network to enhance traffic convenient, safer roads and support socio economic development

Feasibility Study for new linkages, new bridges and ITS - road traffic integration to enhance road safety and congestion control at major roads and interchanges Programmes B. Brunei Urban Transport Development Project, 2007 – 2009 Objective – to develop a world-renewed environmentally – friendly, efficient & sustainable Transport system that help to position the capital city as ’s commercial centre Phase I : Preparation of master Plan (Completed) Task 1 – Review existing situation & identification issues Task 2 – Primary data collection Task 3 – Transport demand analysis Task 4 – Identification of policies , objectives & potential improvement measures Task 5 – Preparation of strategic land use / transport framework Task 6 – Identification of high priority projects Task 7 – Preparation of master plan
