İhsan SOYSAL Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de Akdeniz Bölgesi Toros Dağlarında yaygın olarak yetiştiriciliği yapılan Honamlı keçi ırkının bazı morfolojik özellikleri, döl verimi özellikleri ve kazein genleri polimorfizminin belirlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Araştırma Konya ilinde ekstansif koşullarda yetiştirilen, Türkiye Evcil Hayvan Genetik Kaynakları Koruma Projesi kapsamındaki 170 keçi, 7 teke ve 190 baş oğlak üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Morfolojik özelliklerin belirlenmesi, canlı ağırlık, tanımlayıcı vücut ölçülerinin değerlendirilmesi sonucu saptanmıştır. Döl verimi özelliklerinin belirlenmesinde keçilerde doğum oranı, kısırlık oranı, tek ve ikiz doğum oranları hesaplanmıştır. CSN1S1 ve CSN1S2 genlerindeki süt protein polimorfizmi PCR-AS ve PCR-RFLP metotları kullanılarak belirlenmiştir. İhsan SOYSAL The aim of this study was to determine some morphological characteristics, fertility and casein genes polymorphism of Honamlı goats which is common in Turkey’s Mediterranean Region (The Taurus Mountains). This study has been carried out on Honamlı herd that consist of 170 goats, 7 bucks and 190 kids and that have been breed in the Genetic Resources Conservation Project in Konya province under extensive conditions. In this research, some morphological characteristics were determined from body weight and evaluation of identifier body measurements. For the determination of reproductive traits, fertility and infertility rates, the birth rate, single and twin birth rates were calculated in goats. PCR-RFLP and PCR-AS methods were used for determining of the milk protein gene polymorphism in CSN1S1 and CSN1S2.

Several research activities on this topic have been carried out by Universities and Research Institutions. Among them see the important activity of ConSDABI (Annex 3). Strategic Priority Area 2: Sustainable Use and Development Beyond the systematic control of animals of Italian populations (herd books, pedigree registries, milk recording, type evaluation, etc.) made by the different associations of breeders, as outlined in Annex 2, several projects dealing with sustainable use, products valorisation and development has been carried out by national and local governments, agencies, breeders associations and consortia. Strategic Priority Area 3: Conservation (please give details for the most relevant institutions for national genebanks / cryopreservation in the table in Annex 1) In situ conservation activities are going on for almost all the Italian AnGR, while the project of a national virtual cryo-bank is not yet fully established, despite the intense work of the

BREEDS CURRENTLY RECORDED IN THE GLOBAL DATABANK FOR ANIMAL GENETIC RESOURCES Breeds are listed alphabetically by country, dependent territory, overseas department, entity and area. Following the local breeds, regional breeds are listed followed by international breeds. Symbols C and D after the breed name identify CRITICAL and ENDANGERED breeds, and symbols CM and DM denote the categories CRITICAL-MAINTAINED and ENDANGERED-MAINTAINED. CM and DM populations are being main- tained, so are unlikely to be at the same risk of loss. The symbol X indicates an EXTINCT breed. These symbols appear whenever the population size of a country population has been reported. Entries marked with a dash (-) indicate that no population data has been received for the breed. This list includes 7 616 breeds, of these 6 536 are local breeds, 523 regional and 557 international breeds. Large Animal Review 2021; 27: 91-96 91 Identification of the frequency of CSN1S2 gene alleles and the effects of these alleles and parity on milk yield and composition in Saanen goats j DINCEL DENIZ1*, ARDICLI SENA1, SAMLI HALE1, VATANSEVER BUSE2, BALCI FARUK1 1 Department of Genetics, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bursa Uludag University, TR-16059 Nilufer, Turkey 2 Department of Biology, Institute of Health Science, Bursa Uludag University TR-16059 Nilufer, Turkey SUMMARY The expression of CSN1S2 gene is known to regulate the α-S2 casein levels in milk composition, moreover is estimated to af- fect the milk yield and composition in goat. However, the knowledge about the CSN1S2 gene on milk yield and composition is restricted in Saanen goats. Therefore, this study aimed to specify the effect of CSN1S2 polymorphisms on milk yield/composi- tion parameters. The genotyping of Saanen goats (n=120) was performed by PCR-RFLP methods. The GLM procedure was pref- ered as statistical analysis to defined the effect of those variations on investigated traits. The result showed that the AA (26.67%), BB (33.33%) and AB (40.00%) for A-B variant; N* (94.17%), N*0 (5.83%) for D-0 variant; FF (7.50%), NF/NF (65.83%) and F/NF (26.67%) for F variant in Saanen goats. The effect of A-B allele of CSN1S2 gene (P<0.05) and parity (P<0.001) on milk composition yields were found significant in the current study. However, the effect of A-B allele on lactation milk yield was de- termined tended to be significant (P=0.090).
