After last week writing about the rarity of both state game programs and exhibition match programs, I was blown away to find one from each category this week. The first came my way when Budget reader Mark got in touch to let me know he had a spare copy of the program from the game between WA and Queensland in 2008, which was played in Townsville. That left me needing only five WA state game programs back to WWII - against NSW in Sydney in 1949, SA in Adelaide in both 1949 and 1952, and Victoria in Perth in 1951 (played on a Tuesday). The program set Mark back $55 at auction and, though that’s extremely expensive for a program that’s less than a decade old, this one doesn’t turn up very often. Then, Derek got in touch about a program from the game between Swan Districts and Football Carnival), a full collection would the Whyalla Football League in 1949. He consist of 52 programs.
