Discurso Prohibido: El Silenciamiento De La Crítica Feminista Por El Discurso Prohibido: El Silenciamiento de la Crítica Feminista por el "Género".1 Declaración abierta de 48 feministas radicales de siete países. 12 de agosto de 2013 [con adhesión actualizada de firmas 9/30/13] Nosotras, las feministas radicales de 1960 y activistas actuales que abajo firmamos, nos hemos preocupado durante algún tiempo sobre el ascenso que ha tenido dentro de la academia y los principales medios de comunicación “la teoría de género", que evita nombrar a los hombres y al sistema de supremacía masculina como beneficiario de la dominación de las mujeres. Nuestra preocupación se transformó en alarma al conocer amenazas y ataques, algunos de ellos físicos, sobre personas y organizaciones que se atreven a desafiar el concepto hoy de moda como es el de género. Desarrollos recientes: Una organización ambientalista estadounidense que también se llama así misma feminista radical es atacada por su análisis político de género. Las conferencias feministas en la U.K. (Reino Unido), Estados Unidos y Canadá son expulsadas de los lugares concertados para hacer valer el derecho de las mujeres a organizarse para su liberación por separado de los hombres, incluyendo a personas transgénero (de hombres a mujeres). La organización Deep Green Resistance (DGR) informa que activistas Queer han destruido sus materiales publicados y que activistas trans han amenazado a miembros de DGR con incendiar, violar y matar.2 Las librerías están presionadas para no llevar el trabajo de DGR, y sus charlas han sido canceladas después de las protestas realizadas por activistas queer y transgéneros. 1 Texto traducido del inglés por Insu jeka. 2 http://www.counterpunch.org/2013/06/21/55123/ En las conferencias de Feminismo Radical "RadFem" en Londres,3Portland,4 y Toronto5 los activistas trans acusan a las exponentes de la programación de discursos de odio y transfobia, porque se atreven a analizar la teoría de género desde una perspectiva política feminista. Tanto las personas transgénero como los grupos de "derechos de los hombres" pese a que funcionan por separado, utilizan un lenguaje similar, y demandan ser incluidos en la Conferencia RadFem 2013 en Londres convocada a luchar contra la dominación de las mujeres y por su liberación. ¿Cómo hemos retrocedido al punto en que las feministas radicales tenemos que luchar por el derecho a celebrar conferencias sólo para mujeres y criticar los "roles de género" convencionales? El auge de los estudios de género puede ser parte del problema. El lenguaje es una maravillosa herramienta humana para el pensamiento, la comprensión, la cooperación y el progreso, y tiene sentido cuando las personas luchan por la libertad y la justicia contra quienes las dominan y/o abusan, y la utilización indebida de las palabras o -del lenguaje- también puede formar parte de la lucha. Originalmente, el término "género" puede haber sido útil para solucionar de alguna forma el problema de comunicación que trae consigo la palabra "sexo", que en inglés tiene varios significados. "Sexo" se refiere a la reproducción de una especie, así como los actos que producen el placer sexual o la simple descripción entre muchas plantas y animales dividida en dos categorías observables—los "sexos". Usar el término "género" en lugar de "sexo" permitió a las feministas dejar en claro que todo tipo de relaciones sociales y las diferencias entre los sexos eran injustas, no sólo las relaciones sexuales entre los sexos. "Género" también se aplica a las diferencias artificiales y socialmente creadas entre los sexos humanos, donde mayoritariamente son política, económica y culturalmente desventajosas para las mujeres. Con un enorme impulso la "nueva" teoría académica proveniente de esos programas, fuertemente influenciada por el postmodernismo, la "identidad de género” ha alterado y confundido -cuando no negado completamente - la teoría de que las mujeres biológicas son dominadas y explotadas como grupo por los hombres y por los capitalistas, por su capacidad reproductiva. A menudo, las mujeres ya no podemos organizarnos en contra de nuestra dominación sólo en grupos de mujeres sin ser criticadas de transfobia. Pero, como la feminista radical británica "Fuego en mi vientre", escribió en su blog, "las feministas radicales reconocen que la ‘identidad de género’ de una persona no puede, en una sociedad justa, pasar por sobre su sexo biológico, el que no puede ser cambiado6". No vemos los roles sexo/género tradicionales como naturales o permanentes. De hecho, criticar estos "roles" es válido y necesario para la liberación de las mujeres. El análisis y el activismo feminista radical se centran en las relaciones desiguales de poder entre hombres y mujeres bajo la supremacía masculina, cuyas reales ventajas materiales van al grupo dominante (hombres) a expensas del grupo dominado (mujeres). El sistema de la supremacía masculina castiga a quien no se ajusta como hombre o mujer, esto es descrito conmovedoramente por los miembros de la comunidad trans en internet. Cuando se decide cambiar la identidad de género puede atenuar en parte la problemática a nivel individual, pero no se trata de una solución o una salida política. Además, hay fuertes razones que hacen que sea una solución perjudicial para todos, incluso para la persona en transición, al seguir un género, acepta y refuerza la cultura, economía y política en lugar de cuestionarla. La transición es un asunto sumamente personal relacionado para muchas personas como algo doloroso, pero no se trata de una estrategia feminista ni tampoco de una posición feminista 6 feministuk.wordpress.com/2013/06/19/radfem-2013-we-didnt-kill-any-men/ personal. La transición, en sí misma, no ayuda siquiera en la lucha por el equilibrio de poder entre los sexos. Tendrán que haber muchos avances en la ciencia y la tecnología antes que los cuerpos de las mujeres dejen de ser necesarios para la compleja y peligrosa tarea de proveer óvulos y gestaciones, y llevar a cabo la labor de traer generaciones al mundo. También habrá, sin duda, luchas para asegurar que las mujeres no sean dominadas de nuevas formas bajo estas nuevas circunstancias. No todas las feministas coincidimos en que el “género” debería desaparecer, tampoco convenimos entre nosotras respecto a la pornografía o la prostitución o una transformación radical de nuestra economía y una serie de otros temas. Pero nuestro movimiento tiene una historia de hacer públicas nuestras diferencias importantes a través de declaraciones y distribución de documentos donde se toma posición, no en ataques psíquicos, amenazas de daños físicos y censura de tales análisis. DGR y RadFem defendieron el derecho a pensar, hablar y escribir libremente sobre la cuestión del género. Aunque no estemos totalmente de acuerdo con el análisis de género de DGR, le damos la bienvenida como una contribución importante al feminismo radical y elogiamos el coraje que ha tomado para oponerse a las amenazas y los ataques que les han causado. Defendemos el derecho de RadFem a excluir a los hombres, incluyendo a las personas trans, de sus reuniones feministas, y a invitar a exponentes que analizan el género desde una perspectiva feminista. También elogiamos a CounterPunch en línea por publicar el material de la DGR, recibiendo ataques similares por transfobia, incluso de la revista jacobina en línea. Haremos todo lo que sea posible para no ser sometidas al género. Sophie Payne i Representations of Contemporary Feminist Protest Abstract This thesis is situated within the increasing visibility of feminism in the public sphere in Germany and the UK. Case studies of three contemporary feminist groups, representing two forms of protest, comprise this study: FEMEN, an exclusive group who perform topless public protests across Europe; #aufschrei, an online anti-sexism campaign in Germany; and the Everyday Sexism Project, another online anti-sexism campaign in the UK which was a precursor to #aufschrei. I have selected texts from three different locations from the year 2013: self-representation online, including FEMEN’s reporting on their protests and the stories of sexism shared on the hashtag feminist groups’ websites; mainstream news media representation via online articles from four major newspapers per country, with a range of left and right-leaning and tabloid and broadsheet newspapers; and the discussion forum comments from these online news articles, which provide a view into more ‘general public’ discourse. The aim of this study is not to provide a comparison across countries or media types, but to explore the ways that feminist protest is represented in different locations: how is it constructed and legitimated by the groups themselves? How is it negotiated, supported or rejected in the news media and discussion forum comments? I work with a theoretical framework provided by Discourse Theory and linguistic analytical tools from CDA, namely, social actor theory and contextually constructed opposition.

Review of A Politically Incorrect Feminist by Phyllis Chesler Abstract Phyllis Chesler’s new memoir, A Politically Incorrect Feminist (St. Martin's Press, 2018), spans almost fifty years of second-wave feminism. She names 100s of women, both famous and virtually unknown today who took part in the awakening and growing women’s movement, marching, sitting-in, writing and organizing since the 1960’s. It is the personal life story of one of the earliest feminist authors and political activists of the second- wave, the author of Women and Madness and 17 other books. Chelser discusses major issues of the time and provides an insider’s view of many of the feminism’s most significant public events.
