PRESS RELEASE LA ROCHELLE, JULY 2, 2015 VALBIOTIS, I-LAB AWARD RECIPIENT: A FRENCH NATIONAL COMPETITION TO HELP BUILD INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES Based in La Rochelle, VALBIOTIS, an up-and-coming company specializing in the development of high-added value nutraceuticals, has been named an award recipient in the 17th I-LAB competition. The competition recognizes the most innovative projects across the country. VALBIOTIS was awarded this prize based on its product VAL-63, an exclusive solution for the prevention of type 2 diabetes. The national competition was first launched in 1999 by the French Ministry of Research and helps to build innovative technology companies. Its objective is to help build and support the most promising start-ups by offering them funding and tailored support. VALBIOTIS is a biotechnology research and development company that creates safe and effective nutraceutical products in line with the highest scientific regulatory standards in the world. Its expertise rests primarily in the prevention of chronic illnesses, particularly cardio-metabolic disorders. VALBIOTIS benefits from a complete technology platform, provided through its partnership with La Rochelle University, Blaise Pascal University in Clermont- Ferrand, and CNRS. Its product portfolio includes three developments in the areas of type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia and overweight, for which the company is seeking to obtain a health claim. The prize was awarded on July 1st by Thierry Mandon, State Secretary for Higher Education and Research, at the offices of National Education, Higher Education and Research in Paris.
