[tel] 603 2786 8080 [fax] 603 2780 5883 [url] www.mrcb.com.my • MEDIA RELEASE For Immediate Release MRCB Donates to Flood Relief Effort Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD, 2 January 2015 – Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) today donated RM50,000 to the relief effort for flood victims in Hulu Perak, Kerian, Kuala Kangsar and Perak Tengah in Perak. The donation was made to Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Bin Abdul Kadir, Menteri Besar of Perak in a simple cheque handover ceremony at 10 a.m. today at the Perak Security Council Operations Room at the Employees Provident Fund Building in Greentown, Ipoh. MRCB was represented by Puan Mohaini Mohamad Yusof, General Manager and Head of MRCB’s Corporate Communications Department, who handed a mock cheque to Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry to mark the occasion. The amount donated will be utilised by the Perak Flood Disaster Relief Fund for various much needed assistance for the flood victims in the state. The RM50,000 donation for flood victims in Perak is on top of another RM10,306 donation for the purchase of daily essentials for Terengganu flood victims at four locations in Ajil, Telemong, Kuala Berang and Manir. The amount was handed over to Yang Berhormat Dato’ Jailani Bin Johari, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia and Member of Parliament for Hulu Terengganu. cont’…/2 from page 1 Apart from these direct donations to the flood victims, MRCB also provides warehousing facilities at its Kompleks Sentral, Segambut warehouse and maintains a pool of volunteers among its staff members who are on standby to participate in humanitarian aid activities during any major disaster in the country, such as the current flood situation. These initiatives are MRCB’s contributions to the Putrajaya Committee Group (PCG) overall flood relief coordination plan. The PCG, under the purview of the Prime Minister of Malaysia has requested that all GLCs play a major role in contributing towards National Disaster Response plans as and when required. In addition, as an effort to further the cause to enhance assistance to the nation’s flood victims, MRCB has placed donation boxes at its NU Sentral retail mall and the adjacent Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur for collection of cash from members of the public, who are greatly welcomed to do their bid to alleviate the suffering of those caught in one of the country’s worst floods on record.
