I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday season! So far I’ve heard of just one Es event just before Christmas that very briefly made it to FM and another Es event that was noticed by Chris Dunne down in Florida that went briefly to FM from Colombia. F2 skip faded away somewhat as the solar flux dropped down to the 130s. So, all in all, December has been mostly uneventful. But keep looking because anything can still happen. We’ve prepared a “State of the Club” message for this issue. -

Dancing Through the City and Beyond: Lives, Movements and Performances in a Romanian Urban Folk Ensemble
Dancing through the city and beyond: Lives, movements and performances in a Romanian urban folk ensemble Submitted to University College London (UCL) School of Slavonic and East European Studies In fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) By Elizabeth Sara Mellish 2013 1 I, Elizabeth Sara Mellish, confirm that the work presented in this thesis is my own. Where information has been derived from other sources, I confirm that this has been indicated in the thesis. Signed: 2 Abstract This thesis investigates the lives, movements and performances of dancers in a Romanian urban folk ensemble from an anthropological perspective. Drawing on an extended period of fieldwork in the Romanian city of Timi şoara, it gives an inside view of participation in organised cultural performances involving a local way of moving, in an area with an on-going interest in local and regional identity. It proposes that twenty- first century regional identities in southeastern Europe and beyond, can be manifested through participation in performances of local dance, music and song and by doing so, it reveals that the experiences of dancers has the potential to uncover deeper understandings of contemporary socio-political changes. This micro-study of collective behaviour, dance knowledge acquisition and performance training of ensemble dancers in Timi şoara enhances the understanding of the culture of dance and dancers within similar ensembles and dance groups in other locations. Through an investigation of the micro aspects of dancers’ lives, both on stage in the front region, and off stage in the back region, it explores connections between local dance performances, their participants, and locality and the city. -

Annie - Song Lyrics
Annie - Song Lyrics I Don’t Need Anything But You - All Together at last! Together for ever! Hamlet needed his mother We're tying a knot, Woolworth needed his shop They never can sever! Orville needed his brother I don't need sunshine now, Or else... To turn my skies at blue -- He'd go... I don't need anything but you! Ker-plop! You've wrapped me around You used to need work That cute little finger. To fill every hour You've made life a song ..... I needed to feel You've made me the singer! That feeling of power And what's the bathtub tune Now every other need You always "Bu-Bu-Boo?" Has disappeared from view Bu-Bu-Bu I don't need anything but you. Anything but you They're two of a kind Yesterday was plain awful The happiest pair now You can say that again Like Fred and Adelle, they're floating Yesterday was plain awful On air now But that's And what's the title of the dream Not now that's just come true? That's then I don't need anything I'm poor as a mouse, Anything I'm richer than Midas. Anything But nothing on earth I don't need anything Could ever divide us! But you And if tomorrow, I’m an apple seller, too— I don't need anything but you! Tomorrow – All The sun will come out tomorrow Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow There'll be sun Just thinkin' about tomorrow Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow 'til there's none When I'm stuck with a day that's grey and lonely I just stick up my chin and grin and say, oh The sun will come out tomorrow So you got to hang on 'til tomorrow, come what may! Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you tomorrow You're only a day away Tomorrow, tomorrow I love ya tomorrow You're only a day away .. -

Media continues to proliferate. ',Attention spans continue to shrink. And free content is available everywhere, from the Internet to the insides of elevators. Why then are 93% of American adults still so attached to magazines? Why do so many people, young and old, spend so much time with a medium that's paper and ink, a medium you actually have to pay for in order to read? In a word, engagement. Reading a magazine remains a uniquely intimate and immersive experience. Not only is magazine readership up, readers spend an average of 43 minutes per issue. Further, those 43 minutes of attention are typically undivided. Among all media-digital or analog-magazine readers are least likely to engage in another activity while reading. -
