Fourways Airconditioning: a story of continuous growth and expansion

From selling home airconditioning units from a small outlet in 1999, Fourways Airconditioning has grown to become a national – and international – operation, offering a wide range of aircons as well as Domestic and Commercial Heat Pumps plus home appliances.

Fourways Airconditioning began as a small company in Kya-Sands selling Samsung airconditioners to COD customers in 1999. Since those early days, Fourways Johannesburg has expanded twice to new premises, while our Pretoria branch, established in 2009 to serve local customers, has also moved premises to accommodate ever-increasing volumes.

Appointed as authorised importers and distributors of Samsung airconditioners in South Africa in 2004, Fourways supplies everything from small domestic split units to large Samsung DVM units. In 2006, Fourways also launched its own range of Alliance airconditioners and Heat Pumps.

Fourways Airconditioning stocks and sells a wide range of Samsung airconditioners from small midwall splits up to large DVM S units and Chillers offering world-class energy efficiency.

Our Samsung product range includes split airconditioners, cassette units, ducted units, Free Joint Multis, underceilings and floor standing airconditioners (all available in inverter and non-inverter form). Samsung’s large DVM S is an innovative system utilizing new 3rd generation Samsung Scroll Compressor technology. Its combination of powerful performance and top class efficiency make it the ideal choice for variable environments and large buildings. A Heat Recovery System further adds to high energy efficiency. In addition, we also market Chiller units with world-class energy efficiency (an ESEER of 5.7) that reduces annual electricity costs up to 50% compared with traditional air-cooled Chillers.

Nationwide Samsung technical support With warehousing in all major metropolitan areas, Fourways Airconditioning provides complete after-sales back-up. Technical support – on-site as well as a dedicated engineering team providing assistance with design of complex DVM systems using AutoCAD – is all part of Fourways’ service. Working with installers, consulting engineers, developers and architects, Fourways has helped to provide cost- and energy-efficient solutions for literally thousands of projects.

Airconditioners In 2006, Fourways Airconditioning launched its own range of Alliance airconditioners and Heat Pumps. Offering a broad range of competitively-priced airconditioners including air curtains, window-wall units, Underceilings, Rooftop Package units and ducteds as well as splits and Inverter models, the Alliance brand has found ready acceptance with installers.

Heat Pumps Alliance Heat Pumps – both domestic and Commercial units – have also experienced a rapid increase in sales thanks to their saving up to two-thirds on water heating costs. The Alliance range meets all requirements with retrofitted units from 3.2kW upwards heating from 100 to 500 litres of water to ‘Direct Heating’ commercial units of up to 80kW. In addition, Alliance also supplies High Temperature 70°C and 80°C models, plus swimming pool Heat Pumps with capacities of up to 310 000 Btu/h.

Alliance Commercial Heat pumps providing up to 10 000 litres of hot water per hour are now being used in large commercial and industrial applications nationwide. With energy-saving COPs of up to 4 and more, and accreditations including ISO 9000/1, ISO 14001, CE approval, TuV and Six Sigma, Alliance Heat Pumps are changing the way South Africa heats its water.

Cassette Floorstanding ‘One Stop Shops’ Fourways Airconditioning branches also have ‘One Stop Shops’ offering a wide range of ancillary equipment for installers, ranging from copper piping, insulation, brackets and trunking to wire, electrical conduit and complete installation kits.

Our customers Fourways Airconditioning has an extensive list of qualified installers and contractors that we supply and assist in the areas of Gauteng, Free State, North West, Mpumulanga, Kwa-Zulu Natal, as well as Western, Eastern and Northern Cape. Over the years through our relationships we have built a large customer base that includes a number of leading banks, hotel groups and other commercial enterprises as well as Universities and Government Departments.

Our Export Division Botswana was the first African country that Fourways exported to back in 2002 and since then Namibia, Mozambique, Seychelles, Mauritius, Reunion, Malawi, Swaziland and Zambia have all come aboard, making Fourways Airconditioning one of South Africa’s largest importers/exporters of HVAC products. In addition we have supplied HVAC product for major projects in countries as far afield as Nigeria and Gabon.

With our new focus and drive on exports to Africa, headed up by director Duncan Mackinnon, our dedicated export team now comprises 6 people on the sales side backed by all the admin necessary to support the operation.

Fourways now also has its own office in Mauritius. In addition, we have a bond warehouse in Durban so are able to export products directly into Africa that are bond free and duty free. This enables Fourways to supply large or small quantities so there’s no need to order by the container load.

Our prime target markets are Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria, while we are also establishing an office in Australia with a view to expanding exports to that country.

For 2019, we are projecting a 300% sales increase over 2018, and current sales are already well ahead of our previous year’s sales.

Training facilities Fully-equipped training facilities allow Fourways Airconditioning to bring aircon installers and plumbers, as well as consulting engineers, architects etc. up-to-date on the various products sold by the company. Our 80m2 showroom was established in 2017 to showcase the wide range of products we are able to offer our clients. Our Appliance Division Fourways Airconditioning introduced a new Appliance Division to supply Home Appliances and TV & Audio equipment for bigger tenders and projects, as part of our Projects/Tenders Division offering. With our contacts in the trade we are able to supply appliances and electronics at highly competitive prices. While Samsung is our No.1 brand, we can also supply brands such as Smeg, Defy, Bosch, LG or other major brands as required.

Our team Fourways Airconditioning is headed up by an experienced team with a long history of involvement in the airconditioning industry. The directors are comprised of Richard Perry (managing), Graeme Takis, Denise Nunes, Mfundo Ciko, Jenna Lemos, Mike Killian, Duncan MacKinnon, Elana du Plessis and Wil Jansen, divisional Director of the Water Heaters division. With their broad depth of experience, this team ensures the smooth running of the business countrywide.
