Porsche at Le Mans Meet the Heroes of Le Mans • Porsche and the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1 Porsche and the 24 Hours of Le Mans Porsche in the starting line-up for 63 years The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous endurance race in the world. The post-war story of the 24 Heures du Mans begins in the year 1949. And already in 1951 – the pro - duction of the first sports cars in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen commenced in March the previous year – a small delegation from Porsche KG tackles the high-speed circuit 200 kilometres west of Paris in the Sarthe department. Class victory right at the outset for the 356 SL Aluminium Coupé marks the beginning of one of the most illustrious legends in motor racing: Porsche and Le Mans. Race cars from Porsche have contested Le Mans every year since 1951. The reward for this incredible stamina (Porsche is the only marque to have competed for 63 years without a break) is a raft of records, including 16 overall wins and 102 class victories to 2013. The sporting competition and success at the top echelon of racing in one of the world’s most famous arenas is as much a part of Porsche as the number combination 911. After a number of class wins in the early fifties with the 550, the first time on the podium in the overall classification came in 1958 with the 718 RSK clinching third place. -

Press Release July 4, 2010 No. M 83/10 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, round 4 on the Norisring, race report Nicolas Armindo grabs points’ lead with victory Stuttgart. For Nicolas Armindo it was a weekend made to measure. Taking up the race from pole position, the Frenchman put in his usual rocket start to head the field and gradually extended his lead to the flag. Pocketing 20 points for his win from round four of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland on Nuremberg’s Norisring circuit, the Frenchman moved into first overall in the championship. Driving for Hermes At- tempto Racing, the 28-year-old profited from the previous leader’s bad luck. For the first time, Nick Tandy from Great Britain yielded zero points when his Konrad Mo- torsport 911 GT3 Cup suffered tyre damage. Two other Norisring specialists celebrated their podium results alongside the ecstatic Frenchman, for whom this was his seventh race on the street track. For Uwe Alzen, two-time champion of Germany’s fastest brand trophy series, second position marked a breakthrough in his somewhat mixed start to the season. Competing for Herberth Motorsport PZ Olympiapark, the German is the only driver other than Armindo in the 20-strong field who already won on the Norisring – now 42-years-old, Alzen triumphed here in 1992 before going on to claim the championship title. Armindo’s last Norisring victory was just two years ago. Bringing home an unchallenged third, Martin Ragginger (Schnabl Engineering) from Austria celebrated his third podium result so far this year. For Sean Edwards from the Deutsche Post by tolimit squad, fourth position marked the 23-year-old’s best result by now. -

Donau, June 17, 2019 – Audi Sport customer racing experienced another good weekend with its customers: The Audi R8 LMS achieved its fifth sprint and second endurance racing victory in the DMV GTC series at the Nürburgring. Plus, the Audi R8 LMS GT4 and the Audi RS 3 LMS clinched victories and further trophies on the weekend. Audi R8 LMS GT3 Strong juniors: The fourth race weekend of the DMV GTC was dominated by several juniors. Simon Reicher won the Dunlop 60 race at the Nürburgring in an Audi R8 LMS. The 19-year-old Austrian single-handedly celebrated his first victory in the 60-minute race with Audi’s Saxon customer racing team Yaco Racing. It was the second victory this season for the Audi R8 LMS in a Dunlop 60 race. Third place went to Vincent Kolb. The 24-year-old driver from Frankfurt, Germany, was at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS from Phoenix Racing. In the following sprint races, Audi Sport’s customers collected further trophies. Uwe Alzen in an Audi R8 LMS won the first DMV GTC race. -

Following Bruno Spengler’s (CAN) victory in Saturday’s race at the Norisring (GER), it was another BMW driver who crossed the finish line in first place at the end of the eighth race of the year on Sunday: after 66 laps, two safety car phases and one red flag, Maxime Martin (BEL) took the chequered flag to claim the 75th success for BMW in the DTM having started from seventh on the grid. Martin backed up third place in Budapest (HUN) and second place on Saturday with his third DTM victory – his first since 2015 at the Nürburgring. For BMW, this was a fitting conclusion to a historic weekend at the Norisring. BMW was victorious in Nuremberg for the first time since 1992 – and, as was also the case back then, in both races. Marco Wittmann (GER), Augusto Farfus (BRA), Tom Blomqvist (GBR) and Timo Glock (GER) finished fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth to complete a fine team result, with five BMW M4 DTMs in the top ten on Sunday. Spengler came home twelfth, having been in contention for a podium finish for long periods of the race. Qualifying: As usual, the grid positions at the narrow street circuit were decided by mere thousandths of a second. -

Munich. 2021 is the final year in the development phase of the BMW M4 GT3, due to do battle for wins and titles in GT races around the world for BMW M Motorsport teams as of 2022. The new flagship in the BMW M Motorsport portfolio of cars has been taking part in testing weeks at the Spanish racetracks of Monteblanco and Almeria since the start of the year and in doing so has rung in the crucial stage ahead of the initial race appearances. Covering more than 12,000 kilometres already – which equates to more than 60 hours on the track – numerous BMW drivers have worked extremely hard on drivability and reliability, the objective being to significantly reduce the lifecycle costs and maintenance effort compared with the predecessor model. The close collaboration between BMW M Motorsport and the series developers at BMW M GmbH, as well as making use of the BMW Group’s testing facilities, both make an important contribution to the progress of the BMW M4 GT3. -

The Aston Martin Vantage GTE is based on the critically-acclaimed Aston Martin Vantage road car, the most performance oriented sports car to come from Aston Martin’s ‘Second Century Plan’. Powered by a 4.0-litre, V8 turbo-charged AMG engine developed and optimised by AMR, the Vantage GTE is the first all-new GT car Aston Martin has introduced to the FIA WEC GTE category in seven years. Following an extensive 10-month testing and development programme that has covered 35,000km and 14 different circuits, the team is confident that it has a competitive and reliable car capable of repeating Aston Martin Racing's 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours glory in June and contending for the overall Super Season GTE Pro title. Aston Martin Racing also boasts a world class driving line-up in 2018. The GTE Pro roster includes three-time Le Mans winner Darren Turner, who is joined in the #95 car by 2016 FIA WEC GTE Pro champions Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen. Hungaroring. Timo Glock (GER) and Bruno Spengler (CAN) finished second and third in Saturday’s turbulent race at the Hungaroring (HUN) after a strong catch-up race, which saw them claim the third and fourth podiums of the season for BMW Motorsport. Both drivers benefitted from a daring strategy with early pit stops, which paid off after a safety car phase. Marco Wittmann (GER) in ninth also finished in the points. A collision forced Maxime Martin (BEL) and Tom Blomqvist (GBR) to retire. Augusto Farfus (BRA) was in fifth place when he was hit by a rival and the resulting spin saw him drop right down the field. Qualifying: Augusto Farfus in the Shell BMW M4 DTM achieved his best qualifying result of the season and started the race as the best-placed BMW driver in sixth on the grid. His personal fastest lap time was 1:32.275 minutes. Tom Blomqvist in the BMW Driving Experience M4 DTM in tenth place also made it into the top ten. Maxime Martin (SAMSUNG BMW M4 DTM), Timo Glock (DEUTSCHE POST BMW M4 DTM), Marco Wittmann (Red Bull BMW M4 DTM) and Bruno Spengler (BMW Bank M4 DTM) followed in positions 12, 14, 15 and 17. The race: Augusto Farfus got off to a good start from sixth on the grid and moved up a place. -
