    Callington News August 2017 www.callington-tc.gov.uk Bowling Club raises the bar for the second year running A bit of creative flair and a lot of obvious hard work, with a great sense of fun, combined to make the Bowling Club deserved overall winners of the Best Adult Float award in the Carnival and the Best in Carnival with their themed entry of The Armada. With a float which sported Sir Francis Drake and companions and accompanying walkers providing an excellent portrayal of the entire Spanish fleet, the bowlers proved that enthusiasm and a bit of graft can bring just rewards and help a group of people gel. All the entries put in a bucketful of effort and obviously had a great day out, and it was great to see a good number of specialist classic cars and agricultural vehicles, as well as commercial entries from the area. Why not put Saturday 7th July 2018 into your diaries now and set about gathering friends, neighbours or fellow workers to plan, design and build a float or a walking entry? Or, if you would like to get involved in the preparations during the run-up to the carnival, why not join the Carnival Committee? Otherwise, there is always a need for volunteers to help on the day in a variety of roles. Cleaning Up Callington Callington Community Litter Pick Group carried out their third litter pick at the end of June and collected 20+ bags of rubbish around the town.
