To the East it borders Belgrade region, to the South East Stara Pazova Municipality, to the North and West Ruma Municipality and the River Sava flows along its South border. The municipal area has irregular spherical shape with longer North-South axis of 35km and shorter East-West of 23 km. In the context of Vojvodina this is a middle sized municipality of 483.65 km² and 20.000 inhabitants. The Municipality was established in 1960 from the peripheral parts of the former dis- tricts of Ruma, Stara Pazova and Zemun. Pecinci Municipality is surrounded with six urban areas - Belgrade, Zemun, Stara Pazova, Ruma, Sremska Mitrovi- ca, Sabac and Obrenovac. Some villages tend to rely on neighboring towns; however, gravity to Belgrade is dominant. 4 Municipality of Pecinci / Place of prosperity Good traffic and geographical position, close proximity to Belgrade and the airport «Nikola Tesla «, diverse natu- ral resources and nearby Obedska Pond are just some of all natural and economic potentials of Pecinci. The highway E-70, part of the European Corridor 10 - an important traffic line in Europe, goes through its northern part, connecting the municipality with a market with several million consumers. Attractive Industrial Zone in Simanovci is a constant motivation of municipal leaders for thinking about further development and new investments. Simanovci Industrial Zone is only 25km from Belgrade and 15 km from the in- ternational airport «Nikola Tesla«. We already have several well known companies in Simanovci area such as: Robert Bosch, JUB, ITM Group, Strauss Adriatic (Doncafe Group) PFI Studios TRIMO Ing, Agena Tch, Naturacoop, MGM Ing, Lagermax, KLEEMANN Lifts, DOMING, Fornetti, PERI, DOKA Serb, Dr Oetker, Atlantic Group, SIKA, Isomat, Kovino- plastika LOŽ, Serbomonte. By constructing a ring road around Pecinci new options for investing will be created in industrial zones in Pecinci, Asanja, Prhovo, Dec and Subotiste. Kupinovo village is famous for its culture and tradition kept; it is one of the most beautiful villages in this part of Srem and the only Srem village which used to be the royal town of Princes Stefan Lazarevic and Djuradj Brankovic. Kupinovo area has high temperature geothermal water springs. Near Kupinovo there is a special natural swamp area called Obedska Pond. Pecinci Municipality is extremely flat area with fertile soil suitable for high quality crops of all sorts Efficient municipal management and attractive locations puts you in the position to ask not what you can do for Pecinci but what Pecinci can do for you. In our view, it is our duty to support your investment. This Local Government’s goal is to make Pecinci as its slogan implies the place of prosperity. Municipality of Pecinci / Place of prosperity 5 ECONOMIC POTENTIAL The economic development of Pecinci has begun accelerating after 2000. Up till then this municipality had been an agricultural area with vast arable land plots. However, with the development of its industrial zone and after its expansion the economic situation has changed. Namely, in Simanovci village only, 800 hectares of arable land has been changed into industrial land. By adopting a new urban development plan the municipality has got additional 1.800 hectares of new industrial land. Renowned world companies have been investing its capital into construction of their business and production facilities here. Many types of industries have come here, beginning with food process- ing, mechanical engineering industry, civil construction, to services especially in the field of cinematography. Thanks to the large forest complex in the southern part of the municipality along the river Sava forestry has become one of the most important economic activities in Pecinci. Obedska Pond, a special natural reserve, whose geographical and especially biological characteristics are well known, together with the remnants of the medieval town Kupinik, the Church of Venerable Mother Angelina and St. Lucas as the most important historical monuments are the main items in the tourist package of the municipality. Thanks to its responsive and open administration led by the Local Economic Development Office all interested investors have the possibility to obtain information, assistance and support they need at any given point in time. 6 Municipality of Pecinci / Place of prosperity WHY INVEST IN SERBIA WHY INVEST IN PECINCI • Strategic geographic position-European Corridor 10, • The strategic position of Pecinci. Marković1,*, Nikola S. Kostić2, and Eric A. Oches3 1 Quaternary Reseaerch Center, Trg Dositeja Obradovica 3, 21000 Novi Sad, Serbia and Montenegro. 2 Faculty of Agriculture, Universty of Belgrade, 11080 Zemun, Serbia and Montenegro. 3 Department of Geology, University of South Florida, 4202 Fowler Ave. SCA 528, Tampa FL 33620, Florida, USA. * [email protected] ABSTRACT The Ruma loess section, located in the central part of the south slope of Fruška Gora Mountain, exposes a 20 m thick series of loess and paleosols in the local brickyard. Results of amino acid racemization geochronology confirmed middle- and late-Pleistocene ages of Ruma’s loess-paleosol sequences, and correlates with aminostratigraphic subdivisions at other Central European sites. Paleopedological analyses describe morphology, mineralogy, grain-size distribution and carbonate content of the sediments and paleosols. Five paleosol levels represent the environmental transition from humid forest environments to relatively dry steppe interglacial landscapes during the last about 350 ka. Especially interesting are thick pedogenic layers formed in distinct paleo-depressions, which were created during the last glacial cycle. These horizons provide proxy data useful in the detailed reconstruction of environmental conditions during marine oxygen-isotope stages 5 and 3. Key words: loess-paleosol sequences, paleopedology, Ruma section, Serbia. RESUMEN La sección de loess Ruma, localizada en la parte central del talud meridional de la montaña Fruska Gora, expone una serie de loess y paleosuelos de 20 m de espesor en un depósito localizado en la fábrica local de ladrillo.

  • ABSTRACT Title of Document: the FURTHEST
ABSTRACT Title of Document: THE FURTHEST WATCH OF THE REICH: NATIONAL SOCIALISM, ETHNIC GERMANS, AND THE OCCUPATION OF THE SERBIAN BANAT, 1941-1944 Mirna Zakic, Ph.D., 2011 Directed by: Professor Jeffrey Herf, Department of History This dissertation examines the Volksdeutsche (ethnic Germans) of the Serbian Banat (northeastern Serbia) during World War II, with a focus on their collaboration with the invading Germans from the Third Reich, and their participation in the occupation of their home region. It focuses on the occupation period (April 1941-October 1944) so as to illuminate three major themes: the mutual perceptions held by ethnic and Reich Germans and how these shaped policy; the motivation behind ethnic German collaboration; and the events which drew ethnic Germans ever deeper into complicity with the Third Reich. The Banat ethnic Germans profited from a fortuitous meeting of diplomatic, military, ideological and economic reasons, which prompted the Third Reich to occupy their home region in April 1941. They played a leading role in the administration and policing of the Serbian Banat until October 1944, when the Red Army invaded the Banat. The ethnic Germans collaborated with the Nazi regime in many ways: they accepted its worldview as their own, supplied it with food, administrative services and eventually soldiers. They acted as enforcers and executors of its policies, which benefited them as perceived racial and ideological kin to Reich Germans. These policies did so at the expense of the multiethnic Banat‟s other residents, especially Jews and Serbs. In this, the Third Reich replicated general policy guidelines already implemented inside Germany and elsewhere in German-occupied Europe.

The political environment has also stabilized in a business friendly trajectory, after two successful democratic elections and two Western oriented governments. The banking system has devel- oped to a level of sufficient quality for all normal foreign trade operations. The unresolved status of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro will delay integration into the WTO until as least 2008. Nevertheless, quotas are likely to be eliminated via bi-later- al agreements with the US and EU in 2005. This market environment will be positive over time. The cost of production will continue to rise in EU member states and the US. The expansion of the EU to Central and Eastern Europe will accel- erate the rising production costs in these new member countries. Serbia will remain one of the last continental European markets for high skill low cost labor-intensive production. Progress in the textile and garment industry can be expected in a spontaneous ad hoc manner.

  • Geothermal Energy Projects in Serbia: Outcomes from GOSPEL Study, a French-Serbian Academic and Industrial Partnership Justine Mouchot, ARVERNE Geothermal
Donnerstag, 24. Juni 2021 Kongress 1 - Tiefe Geothermie 16.20-16.50 Uhr Geothermal Energy projects in Serbia: Outcomes from GOSPEL study, a French-Serbian academic and industrial partnership Justine Mouchot, ARVERNE Geothermal GOSPEL, Geothermal Serbian Pilot projects for Heat and Electricity, is a two years project, aiming to identify geothermal projects opportunity in Serbia. The Program is coordinated by ES-Géothermie in partnership with IEL Balkans. Helped by French public fund, the GOSPEL program gathers French industrial expertise and Serbian local knowledges to realize pre-feasibility studies and enhance geothermal industrial projects development. Main achievements of this program are to present three tangible projects to use geothermal energy in Serbia. Four zones have been identified as areas of interest: Subotica, Sremska Mitrovica-Ruma, Kikinda and Vranje. Based on this hypothesis, technic and economical prefeasibility of four projects have been assessed. Industrial development can be considered for (i) heat supply for District Heating System in order to diversify the energetic mix; (ii) for heat production for industrial processes, then lowering the environmental impact of and (iii) for electricity generation. Geothermal energy concept applied in the frame of GOSPEL for Serbia is well-doublet based. Geothermal resources can be found at 650m depth in a sandy aquifer at Subotica. Geothermal fluid can be produced with a temperature of about 65°C, to provide heat for District Heating System which has been recently refurbished. A doublet with Heat Pumps, from 13MWth installed capacity could cover 34% of DH heat needs. Within the area of Sremska Mitrovica-Ruma, a Triassic limestone has good potential to provide geothermal fluid at 65°C, from 1200 m depth.
