Dalton Sargeant Opens 2015 Season with Pete Orr Memorial 100 at New Smyrna Speedway Charlotte, N.C. (January 21, 2015) - Dalton Sargeant will begin his 2015 season with the Pete Orr Memorial 100 at New Smyrna Speedway, one of the premier facilities in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. Sargeant, who will be climbing aboard the No. 5s Five Star Race Car Bodies Wauters Motorsports machine on Saturday, January 24 and will make his first start since he finished in the second position in the 47th running of the Snowball Derby last December. In preparation for a full NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule with HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks, Sargeant will be making his first career start at New Smyrna Speedway, which will host the first round of the prestigious NASCAR HomeTracks series on February 15. Sargeant also calls New Smyrna Speedway his hometown track, although he has never competed on the fast, 1/2 mile high banked facility located a mere three hours from his hometown in Boca Raton, Florida. Although there will be many firsts for Sargeant in this weekend's event, he will have a few familiar faces at New Smyrna Speedway. The No. 5s will have veteran NASCAR crew chief and owner Richie Wauters calling the shots, just as he did in 2014 with Sargeant's previous seven career super late model starts. This will also be the second ever start for the No. 5s, as the only other previous start for the Van Doorn Racing Development chassis was in the Snowball Derby last December. -

The Villages Motor Racing Fan Club Pit News December, 2016 Prez Says
Volume 10, Issue 8, Number 108, Page 1 The Villages Motor Racing Fan Club Pit News December, 2016 Next Meeting Wednesday Jan 4, 2017 at Colony Cottage Rec Center. Going GREEN at 7:00PM Editor: Janine Woodsford As we complete another year of the Villages Motor Racing Fan Club, it is time to reflect on Prez Says some of the highlights. As you know this year was a milestone in our club’s history, celebrating our 10th anniversary in October. Mike Anderson took us through the highlights of each year at our monthly meetings. Gerry Hafer continued to supply us with a host of exciting speakers, with a lot of diverse motor sports including monster truck racing, jet skiing, drag racing, and even power boat racing. The reopening of the Citrus County race track has given us access to local short track racing again. The opening night saw a crowed of over 5,000 attending this event. We enjoyed our annual trip to Gainesville to watch, and listen to a variety of drag racing machines including top fuel, street stock, and motorcycles burning up the quarter mile. Ear plugs are always a necessity for this day out. Our membership has grown this year to over 150 members, and still growing. We have seen many changes in our pit crew. We welcomed Janine Woodsford as our News- letter Editor, Mike Touchette as our Hospitality Chair and Barb Pappas and Renetta Thompson are our Membership Chair and Graphic Designer. Bob and Camille Sherman retired as our Membership Committee after many years of service to our club, Syd and Nancy Baker retired as our Hospitality Coordinators after their dedicated service.
