Cette application est une extension du navigateur Firefox. Sur un site compatible (PubMed, google schoolar, Google Books, Amazon.com, wikipédia…), il affiche une icône permettant ainsi aux in- formations concernant les références bibliographiques du document d’être enregistrées. Zotero peut également enregistrer une copie de la page de web ou de l’article (PDF). Des annotations sont possibles sur ces documents. Il propose aussi une synchronisation vers un logiciel de traitement de texte tel que Word, Open Office ou encore Open Source (bibliographie). Il est aussi possible de créer des citations ou encore un CV. Fonctionnalités spécifiques : Sauvegarde de données locales, restauration de bibliographie existante, localisation d’autre bibliothèque, possibilité infinie de références et de création de collection, biblio- thèque d’image ou de PDF, modification et personnalisation de l’apparence de la bibliothèque, tri de la bibliothèque, recherche multi bibliothèques, recherche de documents, création de références manuelles ou automatiques, Copier/Coller d’autres références, intégration de document (image, PDF, lien, page Web, audio…), importation direct depuis des sites internet, capture d’écran, choix de style (1600), import de style, insertion de citation (modification des styles de citations).     An Insider’s Insight into Literature Searches Searching the literature can take various forms, ranging from a quick scan of recent publications to a formal, systematic interrogation of all available data sources to establish the scientific consensus on a specific topic. In these days of online journal databases, the relative ease of conducting a search means that they often start informally with no thought-out search strategy or defined goal. A long list of articles can be generated almost instantaneously, but what did you miss and how long will it take to review the data? How easily can the search strategy be repeated and adapted to obtain a more complete and refined set of references? Abstract: The research work was conducted with the objectives to find the intricacies faced by students, research practitioners and professionalsduring their research and to suggest the best software alternatives for each category of problems faced by them, based on expected characteristics. Thestudy is intended to help researchersfrom diverse fields, especially those not belonging to information technology and its allied background. This study was pursued by the researcher collecting firsthand information for primary data through a face- to face interview of students, research practitioners and professionals from diverse fields using a structured open ended questionnaire querying about the intricacies faced by them during their research and the characteristics expected by them in the software aiding in research. The analysis is performed in three stages; at the first stage the researcher performs thematic textual analysis on the responses to the questionnaire, short listing the intricacies faced by researchers during their research and the characteristics expected by them in the software aiding in research. Secondly, a keyword search is performed on the shortlisted intricaciesto find the categories of software required to aid the researchers for each type of problem faced by them and then find software alternatives for each category of software along with a brief functional minutiae.
