Here’s why it makes sense One obvious opportunity that Spotify is yet to capitalize on is live video streaming, which has boomed in music during COVID quarantine. At least, Spotify is yet to capitalize on it officially: today brought evidence – as spotted by renowned reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong – which suggests SPOT may indeed be working on adding virtual concert-related functionality to its platform. Manchun Wong, a specialist in rooting out secret test pages that tech companies are trialling in their platforms, discovered an ‘Upcoming Virtual Events’ area in Spotify’s app, as well as a specific ‘Virtual Event’ mocked-up calendar entry for a BTS show. On Tuesday, Soundtrack Your Brand announced a new deal with Universal Music Group that will lock in deals with all three major labels. Pour en lire davantage : Rolling Stone Music is big on Twitch. While they still do a healthy busi- ness in physical sales, and sometimes find ways to squeeze additional profits from it— Taylor Swift recently offered eight different deluxe editions of her new album, “Folklore” — generally the album is the thing that sets the table for far more ambitious revenue streams: merchandise, touring, licensing and more. • Jeunes Et Addictions Est Double : Décrire Ces Pratiques Dans Toutes Leurs JEUNES Formes Et Permettre De Mieux Les Comprendre

Conclusion...................... 41 Sources.......................... 43 The Copia Institute // The Sky is Rising 2019 1 1. Overview In January of 2012, we released the very firstSky is Rising report, highlighting how — despite numerous doom and gloom stories about the impact of the internet on the creative communities — nearly all of the actual data showed tremendous, and often unprecedented, growth in both earnings and creative output. It was true that within those industries, there was a re-alignment, and some companies and some creators found it more difficult to meet those challenges, which often resulted in the stories suggesting an industry-wide impact. However, stepping back and looking at the data, frequently from the industry itself, showed that the sky wasn’t falling because of the internet — it was rising. While the original report looked at the global entertainment market, with specific explorations of music, books, videos and video games, in 2013 we did a followup exploring specific European markets more directly, and in 2014, the U.S. market alone. It has been over seven years since that first report, and plenty has changed, so it felt like time to revisit the original questions explored in that original report: how is the global market for entertainment faring — and is the sky now rising or falling? Has the internet decimated entertainment, or enabled a golden era? The data in this report show that, once again, the sky is rising.

  • French Pop Music Remakes in Turkey
French pop music remakes in Turkey A cognitive semiotic inquiry into cultural transfer Azize Güneş Supervisor: Göran Sonesson Centre for Languages and Literature, Lund University MA in Languages and Literature, Cognitive Semiotics SPVR01 Languages and Linguistics: Degree Project – Master’s (Two years) Thesis, 30 credits May 2017 Abstract In this thesis, the importation, transformation and distribution of French popular music in Turkey during the 20th century have been investigated as a case study of cultural transfer. By using theories and methods within a cognitive semiotic framework, this study provides an overview of the phenomenon of French pop music remakes in Turkey by accounting for the initial situation of communication of remade pop music through recorded materials, and by providing an analysis of the changes made to the songs when transformed from French to Turkish, as well as the linguistic meanings that were made available to the Turkish public in this process. Meaning making procedures in connection to pop music have been considered by analyzing components of pop music, the cognitive capacities of human beings to understand pop music, and procedures of cultural communication enabling the integration of new artefacts in a culture. According to the results of this thesis, 160 Turkish language remakes of songs originally performed in French have been produced and distributed in Turkey between 1961- 1991. The most concentrated period of production occurred during a 10-year period between 1967-1977, with a considerable peak in 1968-1969. Of the songs produced during the peak of 1968-1969, 25% account for the original French song lyrics either as “song translations” or “adaptations” of their original French versions, transferring linguistic meanings to the Turkish target culture.
