COMMERCIAL SNAPSHOT SEASON 2017 FOOTBALL After a disappointing season in 2016, The Roosters started 2017 on the right foot by winning the Auckland 9’s. The tournament win further cemented the Club as one of the most successful teams in the League as they secured the only remaining trophy the Club had yet to win. At the end of the regular season and 26 rounds of football, the Roosters finished in 2nd place booking a place in the NRL Final Series. A loss in the Preliminary Final to the North Queensland Cowboys ended the Roosters season one game short of a Grand Final appearance. After a 15th place finish in 2016, the Roosters ultimately viewed 2017 as a successful season with room for improvement. With the Club securing the services of marquee players Cooper Cronk and James Tedesco, the Roosters are well placed to go one further in 2018. • Allianz Stadium Redevelopment – Key Partner Question and Answer
Allianz Stadium Redevelopment – Key Partner Question and Answer Why is the NSW Government redeveloping stadiums at Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park and the SCG precinct? The NSW Government has invested to redevelop Sydney stadia to ensure Sydney is the sporting capital of Australia. The decision provides greater ability for the NSW Government to keep Sydney’s venues viable in order to secure the major events in NSW that can generate more jobs and economic activity. Why are we knocking down Allianz Stadium? Allianz Stadium is now 30 years old and has reached the end of its useful life. It has provided the stage for some of Australia’s biggest sporting moments including rugby league grand finals, Bledisloe Cups and FIFA World Cup qualifiers. But just as we outgrew the Sydney Sports Ground in the mid-1980s, the time has come to develop the next generation world-class rectangular stadium in Sydney’s original sporting precinct. Why are we spending so much on new stadiums when schools and hospitals should be the priority? The NSW Government’s investment of roughly $2 billion is budgeted to be spent over a period in which the health and education budgets tally more than $400 billion. The economic impact of the SCG Trust’s operations to the NSW economy is estimated at nearly $1 billion per year, with ANZ Stadium providing a similar benefit. The NSW Government’s investment in stadium infrastructure will be paid back in one year, and the new stadiums will provide an even greater economic benefit, with thousands of new jobs tied to the construction of the venues.

AFL Victoria is committed to ensuring our clubs provide a safe, healthy and inclusive environment for players, families, members and supporters. At the launch we endorsed the VRGF Charter that we encourage our clubs sign up to. AFL Victoria understands the importance of responsible gambling and will encourage clubs to focus on the love of the game, not the odds. Talking about the love of the game, last weekend Channel 7 viewers were treated to an enthralling contest in the Peter Jackson VFL Grand Final rematch between Williamstown and Box Hill Hawks, with the Hawks turning the tables on the Seagulls to win by 15 points. VFL football has returned to our TV screens on Channel 7 in its new Sunday home for season 2016. One of the most pleasing aspects of the coverage this year is the variety of ways in which our VFL audience can access matches. Games this season are not only broadcast on TV, but also via the PLUS7 website and mobile app opening up the games to an Australia wide audience. Replays of all Channel 7 games are also available via the PLUS 7 website and on 7MATE of a Tuesday. Those on social media will also have noticed the game highlights and behind the scenes access via @7VFL on Twitter and Facebook, providing our competition with unprecedented coverage in 2016.
