Moving to the fast lane……….

Faster fibre broadband is now available to order in the Heathcote/Rosehill Road/Mount Lane area via cabinet 6 in the Tern Hill exchange. To make the switch to fibre broadband, people will need to contact their chosen internet service provider to upgrade their broadband package, the broadband speeds won’t increase automatically. Parishioners can visit: https://www.homeandbusiness.openreach.co.uk/fibre -broadband/when- can-i-get-fibre to check the availability of fibre broadband.

The fibre network that we’ve commissioned is open to all internet service providers, so we recommend that people shop around to get the best deal for them by using a comparison website, such as: https://www.uswitch.com/broadband/compare/fibre_optic/

On Sunday April 14th we have our Village Spring Clean (with a tasty treat afterwards!) Meet by phone box at 10.30am (armed with your clean up equipment).

Friends of St John the Baptist – Great Bolas Great Bolas Church Community Café The coffee mornings are moving to Friday. The next dates are: 8th & 22nd March & 5th & 19th April.

Last year we raised over £1000 at our coffee mornings which all goes towards our Friends commitment to get a toilet and tea bar installed and support the ongoing repair works to the church and churchyard.

We applied to Allchurches Trust for a grant towards the work and were lucky to receive a cheque for £1,500 on 24th December. This has given us the encouragement to apply to other grant bodies to see if we can raise the remaining money this year. Who knows 2020 could be the year of the toilet! If you want to donate you can do so via our just giving page which is below;

North Walking Football

Since the last issue there has been a change to venues and times of our sessions. Both winter sessions will now be indoors at the: Maurice Chandler Centre Tues 2-3pm & Thur 4-5pm.

The latest details of our sessions will always be on our Facebook page, so pay us a visit. The group continues to flourish, averaging 15+ players per session. Plans are afoot to launch a mini tournament in April where we will be joined by a team from as well as two other teams from across the Welsh border. For the first time we will be entering the People’s Cup, not to mention the possibility of taking the boys on tour to Spain later in the year!!

Above all this is a friendly group where guys come together to share their love of football. What better way to keep fit and meet new friends or old acquaintances. If you’re not sure pop down and watch a session and see if it’s for you.

It’s not just players we are looking for, we are always on the look out for refs, coaches as well as helpers to organise the club and its sessions - age, sex and ability is no barrier. In other words a place for anyone who wants to join us. 7
