BURY HOUSE Bury House is a Grade II listed Georgian village house with a rich history. The house dates as far back as the late 1600’s but most of what we see today as ‘Bury House’, was built in the 1800’s. The house was home to the sisters of Neville Chamberlain around the time of WW2. In the last 10 years, the property has been subject to a comprehensive refurbishment program, which has seen the creation of an elegant and well-proportioned family house, arranged over three floors. Bury House combines a wealth of typical Georgian features and is well equipped for modern living, with ceiling speakers connected to Sonos, under floor heating in the kitchen, conservatory and 1st floor bathrooms. Character firmly remains in abundance in the form of cornicing, 18th century sash windows and wooden shutters and early 19th century frieze-work on the landing level of the main hall. The previous owners also undertook major works including a new roof, new swimming pool, kitchen and a new zinc roof installed on the veranda running the width of the main house. The current owners have maintained the house well, the whole house was externally repainted in 2017. The current owners also rebuilt the wall within the garden having obtained Listed Buildings Consent to do so.

Inside is as you would expect with a house of this period, the rooms are light and airy, most of the principal reception rooms enjoy views over the walled garden and feature high ceilings and large sash windows. There is a spacious dual aspect drawing room with open fireplace, bay window and double doors opening to the morning room. The hub of the house is arguably the open plan kitchen and breakfast room, with painted wooden units under black granite work surfaces, a central island unit and well-appointed integrated appliances. There is also access into the kitchen through the back door off the courtyard and there is a useful traditional pantry and a door leading through to the laundry room. The current owners have applied for Listed Buildings Consent to create an additional utility room off the kitchen.
