It was in the presence of Mtre Chantal Sainte-Marie, Returning Officer and City Clerk, that the newly elected officials as well as the Mayor and the re-elected Councillors were sworn in, one after the other: “I am proudly saluting the new City Council, made up of talented, committed individuals who truly care about Laval residents’ concerns,” stated Mayor Marc Demers. “Our residents clearly asked me and my team to continue the work we began four years ago. We are therefore enthusiastically embarking on this second term of office without delay, while imposing an obligation on ourselves to produce results.” The Mayor appointed David De Cotis Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee. The other members of this committee are Stéphane Boyer, Sandra Desmeules and Virginie Dufour. The Mayor also appointed Christiane Yoakim City Council Chairperson, once again, for this new term of office. Residents are invited to attend City Council meetings, which are held publicly at City Hall, according to a schedule that is set at the beginning of every year. It is during these meetings, which take place once a month, that City Council reaches decisions, in the form of resolutions or bylaws. Residents may consult the decisions and guidelines established by Council and ask questions at these meetings, during the question period.
